Home/Olympics

Caitlin Clark is, reportedly, going to be left out of the USA national women’s basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Clark is currently the most hyped and famous women’s basketball prospect. After her stellar college basketball stint at Iowa Hawkeyes, she is in her first WNBA season, having been drafted by the Indiana Fever in this year’s WNBA Draft.

The 22-year-old is considered one of the greatest college basketball players ever, and holds the record for most points scored in college basketball. Her WNBA season has been a mixed bag so far and the selectors don’t think her performance has been impressive enough to make the cut for the Olympics. Verbose UFC analyst and former superstar Chael Sonnen thinks a good lawsuit should change that.

Sonnen quote tweeted a video of Dave Portnoy of ‘Barstool Sports’, where the latter slammed the selection committee for the move, calling the women’s basketball prodigy’s omission “the dumbest thing” among other choice words in a two-minute rant.

‘The Bad Guy’ gave his thoughts on the subject, largely agreeing with Portnoy. Sonnen felt that the move was a “Stunningly bad decision” and raised questions over the selection process for the national team going to the Olympics.

Sonnel opined that a committee picking the national was an ‘odd’ way to do things, suggesting that if any disgruntled players, who were left off the squad, felt they were left off unfairly, they should be allowed to make their own team to challenge the announced team for their spots in the national squad.

While Sonne’s idea might seem strange, his comments were nothing compared to the Barstool Sports CEO, who promised he would not watch any of the women’s basketball games at the Olympics because of Clark’s omission from the squad.

Dave Portnoy promises he won’t watch any games

Dave Portnoy was extremely upset about Clark not making it to the Olympics team. In his signature bombastic fashion, he declared that since the team did not have Clark on it, he would not be interested in watching the women’s basketball matches at this year’s Olympics.

“I’d rather watch grass grow, I’d rather watch paint dry. I’d rather watch dirt just be moved around because Caitlin Clark is not on the team,” he said in the video.

On the other hand, if Clark had been selected for the Olympics, Portnoy felt it would have been a must-watch TV, which he wouldn’t have missed. This, of course, was followed by Portnoy trailing on the selectors for the move.
