Months after announcing that he is taking a break from all things MMA, Khabib Nurmagomedov is reportedly ready to enter the scene again. Only this time, it could be in a partnership with French soccer giants Paris Saint-Germain. For those that are unaware, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) is one of the biggest clubs in world soccer at the moment. PSG is home to world-class players like Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Kylian Mbappe. If the rumors turn out to be true, fight fans could see ‘The Eagle’ work with the same team that houses these global football icons.

The 34-year-old announced his retirement from active competition in 2020. A few months ago, he took a step back from his coaching roles as well. However, if the rumors are true, ‘The Eagle’ might enter the scene with the soccer giants.

Rumors also state that the soccer giants are trying to rope in former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Based on a recent tweet, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi will look to join prominent MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz and Khabib Nurmagomedov to form PSG MMA.

There is no confirmation about these reports from the Russian mixed martial artist yet. However, if the 29-0 former champion returns to the scene with PSG, it could be huge for the PSG brand.

Incidentally, this is not the first time the soccer giants have roped in a star from a different sport.

When PSG roped in Michael Jordan

NBA star Michael Jordan is still a global icon of the sport years after his retirement. His Jordan brand is one of the most popular and globally celebrated brands of the modern day. Back in 2018, Jordan and PSG got into a collaboration that saw PSG’s stars wearing jerseys with the Jordan brand on them.

The deal worked in both parties’ favor. It allowed Jordan a gateway into the untapped European markets. For PSG, it allowed them to grow a global audience. Although they are immensely successful in the domestic scene, PSG is yet to make a name in international European competitions like the UEFA Champions League.

Sales showed a record increase almost a year after the deal went down. With stars like Messi and Mbappe growing in popularity after the World Cup, things are likely to get better for the collaboration.
