Things have become heated in the basketball-verse with LeBron James having a bold confrontation with Stephen A. Smith. But little did the Lakers’ star know that his controversy with the TV presenter would invite some heated words from Colby Covington. Well, ‘Chaos’ and James have already exchanged a few bubbling words earlier. But this time, the former interim welterweight champion stood in support of Smith.

Full Send MMA recently shared a clip where a man had an interaction with Covington. And the question he asked the welterweight star was all about his thoughts on the altercation between James and Smith. Without wasting a second, the 37-year-old mixed martial artist began lashing out at the basketball star. But before we get to ‘Chaos’s words, let’s see what exactly happened between Smith and James. Well, during the First Take episode as the Lakers went up against the Knicks, Smith revealed, “He approached me during the game and he said stop f-ing with my son. That’s my f-ing son. Stop f-ing with my son.” Of course, Smith sidelined that incident, claiming that it was nothing more than a father defending his son. But Covington wasn’t one to give up.

In response to the journalist’s question in the video, Covington called LeBron James a “sc–bag.” He pointed out that people had freedom of speech and there was a reason why the American constitution had so many amendments. ‘Chaos’ continued, “You’re a sc–bag, LeBron. You don’t care about this country that made you all that money, and I hope you f— get sick and f— and worse… I don’t wanna say any worse but you’re a terrible human being. You put target on the backs of our law enforcement, of our f— first responders, who you use privately for your family to secure… So, you’re just not a good person. You’re despicable. And I despise you. F— LeBron James you b— a– motherf—. Come see a real ass motherf— OG and get your ass knocked the f— out without your private security.”

But do you know what previously happened between Colby Covington and LeBron James? Well, it all began with the Lakers’ star hyping up the parties that Sean John Combs, or ‘Diddy’ used to throw. Of course, Covington reflected on the controversies that engulfed Diddy and his parties too.

Colby Covington and LeBron James lash out at each other because of Diddy parties

Things went wrong when James seemingly hyped up the Diddy parties. But during the pre-fight press conference for UFC Tampa, Covington decided to bash the basketball star. He quoted“I want to ask LeBron: What does he mean by ‘there’s no party like a Diddy party?’ And not only that, LeBron, how many Diddy parties have you actually been to? I’m really curious to know. Is that the reason you left social media? Because of all the backlash you were getting for going to so many Diddy parties?”

It didn’t take James long to come up with a response for the welterweight contender. He answered that he was actually in attendance at a few dozen Diddy parties. But that didn’t mean that he had anything to do with the controversies. James even pulled in Covington’s altercation with Jorge Masvidal. All in all, James claimed that he calculated his every move. But that wasn’t the only thing Covington was upset about.

What’s your perspective on:

Is LeBron James a hero or a villain in his clash with Colby Covington?

Have an interesting take?

‘Chaos’, being a proud American citizen, didn’t appreciate it when the NBA star supported defunding the police and the first responders. James is indeed a role model for many, and his taking a stance that was against the country’s norms, seemed unacceptable to the welterweight fighter. And all we can do now is hope for things to calm down as soon as possible.

What are your thoughts on the online battle between Covington and James? Do you think the duo should simply sit down and talk their differences out? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
