NBA star Lebron James made heads turn in 2020 when he purchased a $37mn Hollywood mansion, formerly lived in by Hollywood legend Katherine Hepburn. Now, he is back in the news because he has destroyed that mansion. “His money, his house,” one might say, but this decision has left someone from the MMA world very angry.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) star Gordon Ryan took to social media to condemn James’s decision. He did not mince words while calling out James for his decision to destroy the home amid the prevailing homelessness situation in Hollywood.

James splashed $36.75 million of his net worth on a lavish 13,000 square feet mansion in Beverly Hills. The 1930 Mediterranean House was previously owned by Lee Phillip Bell and William J. Bell, creators of soap operas including The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.

Gordon Ryan shared a news article about LeBron James destroying his $37 million dollar mansion on his Instagram story. The 27-year-old added a scathing message for James and wrote, “Bigot… should have let the oppressed homeless people live there. It’s like he doesn’t even care.”

In fact, a year ago, Forbes declared LeBron James the first NBA star to enter the billionaire status. At 37, the Lakers star had amassed a mammoth figure from his career earnings and endorsements. However, to James’s merit, he does his share to give back to the community.

The 38-year-old reportedly spends almost $2 million every year through the I Promise foundation. It provides education to children from families at risk. His aim is to ensure these families and their children do not face the hardships he faced.

Several stars have started to leave Hollywood in search of quieter family life. Some of them had even mentioned the rising homelessness issue and said that leaving their homes might bring down the exorbitant property prices in Hollywood. Scott tweeted, “After 45 years, I’m making my way to finally ‘exit stage right’ from California.” When asked about his decision, Scott simply weighed out the pros and cons and decided it was not worth it.

“This brings down property value. Also, no consequences for crime that is rampant, making things higher in price and it’s just not a safe place anymore. #ImFree,” he wrote. Amidst all this, King James plans to build his dream home atop the ruins of the $37 million dollar home.
