In a recent conversation with Entrepreneur Patrick Bet-David, Evans discussed what is going down with UFC light heavyweight GOAT Jon Jones, keeping in mind his recent charges, arrests, and accusations of using performance-enhancing drugs.
During the conversation, the host, Bet-David, made an interesting comparison regarding ‘Bones’ that put him in the same category as NBA legend Michael Jordan, for his contribution to the sport. And also controversial NBA legend Dennis Rodman, for his antics outside of the cage.
“He’s got Michael in him, but he’s got Rodman in him too. Very weird dynamics… maybe a little Dwight Goodman,” Patrick Bet-David said. Which got a nod of approval from Evans.
Jon JonesWhat happened between Jon Jones and Rashad Evans?
At the beginning of Jon Jones’ career, he and Rashad Evans trained together at the Greg Jackson camp. Evans was a bit skeptical of Jones’ entry into the gym, as a top light heavyweight contender and a surging prospect of the same division would mess things up at the gym. However, both men became good friends quickly.
In that span of time, Evans became a UFC champion after beating Forrest Griffin. But things started to worsen when Evans lost his title to Lyoto Machida and Jones was seen as a contender for the belt.
Eventually, Evans found his way back to the top and was set to challenge Mauricio Rua for the belt. But he had to pull out of the fight because of an injury. Meanwhile, Jones was selected as the replacement for Evans, while both of them trained together. Jones became the champion after beating ‘Shogun’ at UFC 128.
