Five-time ADCC champion and BJJ maestro Gordon Ryan does not like LeBron James. The martial artist has a history of blasting the four-time NBA champion over his alleged deference to China and hesitation to criticize the country, due to the business interests the NBA and James have there.

But, with James continuing his impressive run in the NBA at the age of 39 in his twentieth year in the league, even Ryan is impressed. The basketball GOAT contender has seemingly defied Father Time and is putting up roughly the same numbers he was in his younger days. Ryan took to his Instagram Story and commended James for performing at a high level in the NBA despite his advanced age, even as he reminded everyone that he considered the LA Laker a ‘hypocritical idiot’.

“Most of you know what I think about LeBron. I think he’s a hypocritical idiot. That being said, to have as much money as him and in the game as long as him and still performing like he is at 40 takes a special kind of person,” he wrote. LeBron’s NBA career looks to be coming to an end as the Lakers have drafted his son.

Bronny James drafted by the Lakers

LeBron James has achieved almost everything that an NBA player can in his historically great run in the NBA since joining the league in 2003-04. While he will seemingly fall short of breaking Michael Jordan‘s six NBA title, he had one wish before he bid adieu to his NBA career. He wanted to play with his son, Bronny James in the NBA.

And that goal, too has been achieved. Bronny was picked 55th in the second round in the 2024 NBA draft by his father’s team, the LA Lakers. This means that Lebron-Bronny will be the first father-son duo to play in the NBA. This decision has been very controversial with many accusing Bronny and LeBron of nepotism. Bronny, after all, had very ordinary numbers in his college basketball stint, putting up merely 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists at USC.

But the Lakers are not worried about his numbers, with their VP of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka commending Bronny’s character and work ethic as the reason they selected him in the second round. He said “Bronny is, first and foremost, a person of high character. And second, he is a young man that works incredibly hard. Those are the qualities we look for in drafting players and adding to our developmental corps at the Lakers,”.
