Earning Almost $16M in Endorsements in 2022, Conor McGregor’s Deal Takes Massive Hit Following UFC Star’s NBA Controversy

Conor McGregor and his deal with NBA giants Miami Heat seem to be in jeopardy after the incident involving him punching their mascot made waves in the news. Moreover, the incident that took place in Kaseya Center has jeopardized his potential business collaboration with the Heat, as per sources.

‘Notorious’ launched his sports recovery product, TIDL Sport, in 2021. This was his newfound focus on post-training relief and recovery. This brand gained traction in the past couple of years and McGregor struck gold after his brand got the opportunity to collaborate with one of the biggest NBA franchises. However, things seem to have gone haywire in the past week after he punched the Heat’s mascot, Burnie.

The former UFC double champion was promoting his pain relief spray during game 4 of the NBA championships in Miami. As a part of the promotional act, the mascot of the Miami Heat, Burnie, squared off against McGregor in a skit that went horribly wrong. Moreover, the Irishman punched the mascot two times, which sent the latter to the hospital. Fortunately, the mascot recovered and was later released. However, that brought bad press to the organization and his deal with the NBA giants seems to be in trouble.

Conor McGregor is about to lose his TIDL Sport deal with Miami Heat

The former UFC double champion earned almost $16 million in endorsements from his shares in TIDL Sport spray. It was supposed to be the Miami Heat’s official pain relief partner for the 2023-24 season. In addition to that, the team was also going to wear a patch of his product’s name on their jerseys. However, that deal may not come to fruition, as an insider claims that the NBA franchise may opt out of the business collaboration.

‘Page Six’ reported that an insider claimed that Heat has never faced controversy in its entire history like the one in Game 4. Additionally, the controversy at Game 4 may lead them to withdraw from the deal with Conor McGregor. The insider said, “This was very bad for an otherwise crystal-clean organization.” He added, “I can’t imagine the Heat brass want the Tidl sports patch on their jerseys – it’s a reminder of the 24 hours of hell the organization went through.”

The Miami Heat also removed all the content on their social media handles relating to TIDL Sport following the controversy. It’s certainly a big blow for the UFC megastar. He failed to secure a business deal with one of the world’s biggest sporting franchises.
