The former and first-ever UFC simultaneous two-division champion is a force to be reckoned with inside the octagon. Outside the cage, McGregor is a successful businessman and is now en route to becoming a movie star.

‘The Notorious’ one has several signature antics as a part of his persona- one of which is the famous ‘billionaire strut.’ However, McGregor is yet to materialize his billionaire dream. Meanwhile, another famous personality from a different sport has entered the coveted billionaire club ahead of MMA’s Conor McGregor.

Conor McGregor beaten to Forbes’ billionaire club

Try as he might, Conor McGregor could not make Forbes’ latest Sports Billionaire list where sports giants like Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan feature. Now, another figure from a different sport has beaten McGregor to the billionaire club.

Toto Wolff, CEO and team principal of the Petronas Formula 1 team has entered the billionaire list as per Forbes. Wolff also owns 33% of the team. The 51-year-old Austrian has directed the Mercedes team to eight consecutive F1 Constructor’s Championships and seven consecutive Driver’s Championships between 2014 and 2021.

Wolff started off as a banker and later shifted to investing. He earned his fortune from investing in venture companies, and the Williams F1 team, leading them to the Spanish Grand Prix win in 2012.

While non-combat sports personalities like Wolff are making the billionaires list, McGregor is not sitting idle. A few months ago, the 34-year-old hinted that he was close to the achievement.

Update on McGregor’s ‘billi’ status

In a tweet from November of last year, Conor McGregor claimed he was approaching billionaire status. The Irishman tweeted out saying that he had multiple companies that were cruising towards multiple billion dollar worth. The crown jewel of his business empire is the Proper Twelve Irish Whiskey brand, whose sale earned him a reported $600 million.

Other ventures include the August McGregor clothing line, TIDL sports recovery products, and Claymore Productions. ‘Mystic Mac’ also pocketed a handsome $100 million from his boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

Back in August 2021, McGregor claimed that he would be a billionaire by the age of 35. With his 35th birthday only a few months away, do you think he will achieve the feat?
