Prior to the release of the docuseries based on ‘The Notorious’, director Chopra was interviewed by BroBible. The interviewer asked him about the similarities the Irish fighter had with other prominent athletes he worked with.

Chopra claimed that McGregor was, in fact, a mad scientist. He declared that his defiance and combativeness were similar to that of Bryant. He said, “You know, personality wise, he couldn’t be, he’s quite similar to Kobe, like there’s a defiance and a combativeness, you know, to him, of course.”

Furthermore, Chopra revealed that although McGregor was a bit like Curry. Just like the NBA shooter obsessed over things that could make him a better shooter, the Dubliner obsessed over things that could make him a better fighter.

The director then recalled McGregor’s training sessions. He said, “Like, you’d be at training sessions and for hours upon hours, he has everything filmed. Then he’ll watch the film. And he’s looking for these tiny little things to help him get better.”

“And it’s like that is just something, you know, it’s obsessive, it’s this, you know, despite all the fame and the fortune, and all the color blue always around him, he’s just like, that’s not what it’s about for him. It’s about can I be better.”
