UFC commentator Jon Anik recently adopted a persona with which he is not associated. The UFC associate, who carries a calm and sometimes excitable personality, observed the latest MLB controversy through different lenses. Further, the American commentator channeled his inner MMA athlete as he suggested a violent solution to it. Notably, he has been at the receiving end of scathing remarks by UFC star Colby Covington. Furthermore, the recent comments that Anik shared perplexed the MMA fans, as they conjured it as an outcome of the recent verbal exchange involving the two.

Markedly, the 44-year-old took to his Twitter handle as he expressed his opinion of the recent controversy that popped out of MLB. The Philadelphia Phillies catcher J. T. Realmuto was controversially ousted against the Toronto Blue Jays in a spring training game on Monday. Significantly, the referee made the call after an awkward but inadvertent exchange followed between the two.

Jon Anik suggests a vicious solution to deal with such incidents

The former ESPN anchor surmised that, in such cases, the assault should be legal. Further, he proposed the actions of the referee also justified a punch.

Thus, the UFC correspondent wrote, “When assault should be legal. Someone ought to punch that umpire in the teeth.”

In the viral clip, the fans could witness Realmuto blindly making a gesture that the umpire Randy Rosenberg mistook for asking for the ball. While Rosenberg threw the ball to him, Realmuto retracted his gloves, and the ball dropped to the ground. As a result, Rosenberg immediately ejected the catcher.

As expected, the catcher and the entire team expressed their confusion and frustration over the development. Following this, Phillies’ manager Rob Thomson then charged to the diamond and sought an explanation from the umpire, but to no avail.

A flabbergasted Realmuto, later on, explained to the Philadelphia Inquirer, “How does he expect me to know he’s giving me the ball right there? I’m not even looking at him.”

How did the fans react to Anik’s comments?

While some fans pointed out that a different aspect of Anik’s personality was on display, others speculated Colby Covington forced the change in him.
