Despite their earlier beef, Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis carried themselves with remarkable restraint at their UFC 297 press conference today. Things kicked off at the press conference for UFC 296 last year after ‘Tarzan’ accused Du Plessis and his coach of having a sexual relationship.

In response, the South African promised to hurt Strickland so bad he will forget the abuse his alcoholic father used to subject him to as a child. Strickland was livid and even threatened to stab ‘Stillknocks’ if he brought up his childhood again. However, things have cooled between them since and were even seen hugging each other in a hotel lobby. And Michael Bisping thinks he knows why.

On the third episode of UFC’s ‘Embedded’ series on YouTube for UFC 297, Strickland can be seen sitting in a hotel lobby. Dricus Du Plessis passes through the lobby with his girlfriend, Vasti Spiller and spots the middleweight champion sitting there.

Contrary to expectations, Du Plessis and Strickland had an amicable interaction where the South African introduced his girlfriend to Strickland, and even wished him luck for their fight. The two men also shook hands and hugged each other, showing the mutual respect they had for each other.

Former UFC champion Michael Bisping was glad to see their heartwarming interaction. “They encounter one another in the hotel and it was nothing but love and appreciation and respect there was a nice hug. Dricus even said good luck to him, which I thought was great, you know,” the UFC commentator said on his YouTube channel.

Bisping felt that the reason they had such a civil interaction despite their history was because of Du Plessis’ girlfriend being there. “You know Dricus is there with his lady, right. And I think at that point anyone that knows how to behave they’re not going to start kicking up a fuss or a ruckus. When somebody’s with their partner, you’d have to be a certain level of piece of sh** to do that,” he added. And the thaw in their relationship was evident at the UFC 297 pre-fight press conference.
