Moreno and Pantoja went after it from the first bell. There was barely any moment in the fight where the action seemed to be lacking. Both champion and challenger had their moments as neither took a back foot. They were all-heart as the fight headed into the final round.

Pantoja won the first round convincingly, but the champion came back strong in the second. From there it was all a bloody back-and-forth. He finished the fifth round, neutralizing Moreno after taking his back and pinning him against the cage.

“That was a terrible decision” – said Joe Rogan on round 4 being scored for Brandon Moreno. There were conversations between the commentators about the scorecards, but no one doubted Pantoja was the rightful winner.

A month removed from Brazil’s champion Amanda Nunes retired, the country has another in Alexandre Pantoja. The ATT star shared an emotional moment with fellow countryman Gilbert Burns who was in the audience.

The 33-year-old is now 10-3 in the UFC and can look forward to the next challenger for his title. Meanwhile, the action from the UFC 290 co-main event thoroughly impressed the fans. They took to social media to share their reactions to Pantoja’s win over Moreno.

Unsurprisingly, many of them were arguing about the scorecards, which is usually the case for a fight this competitive. UFC Hall of Fame member Michael Bisping also spoke out against the same.
