However, Rockhold’s transition did not sit well with Dana White. The UFC President publicly mocked Rockhold’s decision to model. Recently appearing on the Jaxxon Podcast, the former UFC champion discussed how he stumbled onto modeling as a profession.

On the podcast, Rockhold recounted the shift in his career trajectory. Moreover, he stated that his decision to explore modeling came in the aftermath of losing the world title and facing contractual disputes with Dana White. “I did the modeling thing after I lost the world title and Dana was trying to f*ck with me with the contracts and everything,” he said.

In his own words, Rockhold explained that he found himself in a disadvantageous position contractually and decided to take a step back. “I wasn’t in the best up spot with the contract, I fell back and I was like ‘F*ck you m*therf*cker, I’m not gonna take that’,” Rockhold said. “And, he was like ‘Then go f*cking model. I said fine! I’ll go,” he added.

Soon, the UFC veteran modeled for Ralph Lauren’s famous Polo Blue cologne, and his banners were set up in numerous airports in the world. “Then I got the face of (Ralph Lauren) Polo Blue and I was in every airport in the world,” he said.

Soon, Rockhold’s career trajectory experienced an intriguing twist. After his success as a model, Rockhold started receiving more lucrative contracts from the UFC, he revealed. Further, the terms and conditions suddenly shifted in his favor. “They came back to me like, ‘Luke can we give this fight? Can we give you this much money?”

The 38-year-old also stated that he received a better sum of money to fight in the UFC afterward. “I made a lot of money and then coming back to the UFC, it was more valuable,” he added.
