Joe Rogan is a legend in the realm of MMA. The UFC commentator is known for his love of the sport and has his picks of favorites. But do you know who one of his favorite golfers is? Well, it’s none other than the eccentric John Daly. In an episode of his Joe Rogan Experience with Tony Hinchcliffe, Rogan praised Daly, calling him a magnificent golfer. However, there are some habits of the golf legend that the JRE host isn’t a big fan of. So, what are these habits?

In JRE #2226 with Theo Von, Rogan found John Daly at the center of the conversation again. However, this time, the talk wasn’t limited to the icon’s golf-playing skills. Instead, it was his lifestyle that had the duo talking. While average golfers take care of their health and diet, Von speculated that all Daly drinks must be diet coke, to which Rogan chimed in by claiming that the golfer might not even know what water is. On his favorite drinks, Rogan further added, “I’m sure, but he doesn’t drink water. No, I’m sure he drinks alcohol too.”

Daly is known for his drinking problems and controversial lifestyle choices. From leaving the field before finishing to signing autographs for fans while drunk, ‘Long John’ has done it all. Despite this, he won the 1991 PGA Championship and the British Open in 1995. Often called ‘fat’ by his critics, Rogan also decided to defend the golfer in his podcast: “John Daly back in the day wasn’t fat; he was like an athlete. This is just a time of living hard. Right there, he’s a stout dude.”

Even Theo Von couldn’t help but sing praises of the legend. He remarked, “He’ll hit a 68 in an ICU, dude. This guy’s one of a kind. I feel like, you know, nobody could do it like him. He’s exceptional.” He even compared him to Santa Claus because of his long hair and bushy white beard. Calling him the ‘Santa Claus’ at every Seven Eleven.

So it looks like despite his antics, the golfer has earned fans in Joe Rogan and Theo Von. So now all fans would want to see is ‘Long John’ himself appearing on the show to share some hilarious anecdotes and cause chaos. However, it can be a tall task if John Daly ever finds out about the dig that Joe Rogan took at him a few years ago.

Joe Rogan insults John Daly in MMA vs. Golf debate

While at JRE #2226 Joe Rogan defended the physique of John Daly, the same Joe Rogan also insulted the golfer for his physique back in 2022 during a podcast episode with Tony Hinchcliffe. The duo indulged in a debate on MMA vs. golf based on the difficulty level of each sport. While Hinchcliffe defended golf by calling golfers smarter than an average MMA fighter, Rogan retorted by comparing the smartness of Israel Adesanya and Daly. He said, “You don’t think the Stylebender is smarter than John Daly? You are out of your f—–g mind.”

He further discussed Daly’s drinking habits and partying. He made his point by comparing him to an athlete like Jon Jones in terms of health and physique, if they both went shirtless. Rogan added, “If you want to decide, ‘hey, one of these guys is an athlete, and one of these guys plays a game drunk, which one do you think it is?'” However, the UFC commentator soon heaped praise on the legend by keeping the debate aside.

“I mean, I don’t think that he’s not awesome at golf. He is a f—–g amazing golf player. There’s no doubt about it.” Rogan also admitted to the fact he often watches videos of ‘Long John’ playing golf and wonders how he manages to be so good despite his habits.
