The automotive journalist recently sat down with Joe Rogan to have a conversation about the perplexities of the racing world on “Joe Rogan Experience #2199” and amid the conversation, Harris revealed a story about a famous racer that caught the multi-million dollar podcaster off-guard. “I remember hearing a guy called Win Percy, who was a touring car driver from the UK in the sort of 60s and 70s, describing how there was a famous commentator we had, called Murray Walker,” said Harris.

He further added, “He was the voice of our motorsport for 40 years. He had a very distinctive voice. He was a lovely man; I met him a few times. He would often describe Win Percy getting out of this particular car he’d been racing, covered in sweat because it was such a monster to drive. But it turned out that it was a V12 and it was very, very thirsty.”So, to make sure that when they did a fuel check at the end of the race, to make sure they were abiding by the rules, he would be furiously pumping a hand pump underneath the seat to inflate a bladder in the fuel tank to cut off the volume. “

It must be noted that Win Percy was one of the most accomplished racers of his time. The British racer has won the BTCC three times, in 1980, 1981, and 1982. Percy, along with Tom Walkinshaw, won the 1984 ETCC, including the prestigious Spa 24 Hours race. In addition to these, he was among one of the most accomplished non-Australian riders of his time.
