Red Dead Redemption 2 has thrilled gamers all around the world. The game that’s set in 1899 and offers a storyline based in western, Midwestern, and southern America. Even Joe Rogan discussed the game in his award-winning podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’.

Joe Rogan was talking to Anthony Cumia, who is a podcaster and a radio personality. Rogan talked about how video games were getting violent. He then took the example of Red Dead 2. Joe said, “We are seeing so much violence and committing violence in video games. What was that video game where that guy got in trouble because he made a video of torturing some woman rights activist.”

Rogan was referring to a YouTuber who had posted videos of him beating up a suffragist woman in the game. Rogan’s guest, Anthony Cumia, then explained the violent aspects of the game. He said, “once it became viral, people started going up to her in the game and doing more terrible things. There is one where a guy ropes her, hogties her, throws her on the back of the horse, rides her to a swamp and throws her to a swamp and throws her to an alligator, which then eats her.”
Rogan Surprised by Violence in Read Dead Redemption 2
Joe Rogan was left surprised by the description of violence. He called it crazy and went on to say “Rockstar went Bull***t with this game “. Anthony Cumia then explains that the game was open-ended and you could choose what to do. He then described another gore scene from the game. Joe Rogan was also inquisitive about the format of the game, and Anthony Cumia responded by telling him about how different animations and voice-over effects are used in the game.
Anthony Cumia then narrated a sequence in the game that Joe Rogan looked completely appalled by this narration. Cumia said, “Louis apparently killed everybody. He killed a guy’s dog, and skinned it in front of him, and then shot him in the face. That’s really mean.”

Joe Rogan then asked if people looking for outrage were not aware of this. Cumia even talked about the game being set in 1899 and hence being misogynistic and racist. The game might have gathered a lot of followers and fans may rave about the game, but violence and misogyny will not be good things to have in a game that a lot of teenagers will be playing.

Rockstar Games produced Red Dead Redemption, which is available on platforms like PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, and Stadia. In the United States, Red Dead Redemption 2 was the second-best-selling game of October 2018, behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It was the nation’s best-selling game in November, and the third-best-selling in December.
