While this is a piece of great news, many UFC fans probably have another news to be happy about. After looking at the teaser, a few fans felt that Ryu looks like the middleweight Kelvin Gastelum.
An excited Twitter user tweeted, “Oh sh*t, @KelvinGastelum is in the new SF6!”
The fighter retweeted the Tweet. This has left people quite excited. It is not known if they had designed the character keeping Gastelum in mind. But it wouldn’t be surprising if that were the case. After all, just a while back, Robert Whittaker was included as a character in Skyrim.

The 30-year-old fighter is currently coming off two losses. In 2021, he lost against Whittaker and Jared Cannonier through unanimous decisions. So a win during his next fight becomes extremely important for him. The 17-8-0 record-holder will fight at UFC 273. He will face Nassourdine Imavov. Imavov has won his last two fights through T/KO. He is also just four fights old in the UFC.
Both the fighters are primarily strikers and hence, it would be interesting to see if Imavov’s height gives him an advantage or whether Gastelum‘s experience will aid him.
What’s next for Kelvin Gastelum?

UFC 273 takes place on April 9 at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville. Alexander Volkanovski versus Chan Sung Jung and Aljamain Sterling versus Petr Yan will headline the event.
After two losses, UFC 273 becomes a crucial fight for the fighter. Back in 2019, he fought Israel Adesanya for the title. Unfortunately, he lost the bout. Further, he is currently ranked at number ten in the middleweight division.
Hence, defeating the best-ranked fighters could help him. Who do you think he should fight after Nassourdine Imavov?
