“Tell People the Truth About What You Did”: Major Difference Between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lance Armstrong’s Approach to PED Revealed by the UFC Legend

There is an unwritten rule in the world of MMA: If it isn’t the fight week of the UFC, you can expect to listen to some of the most bizarre things from Chael Sonnen. From an obscure backstage story to his take on some of the most controversial topics in MMA.

People who follow “The American Gangster” would not be surprised to hear just about anything. Even if the former three-time UFC title challenger proposes a bout between Jon Jones and some creature locked up in Area 51. And following a similar trend, recently the Oregon native expressed his opinion on steroid use in the NBA. But while doing so, he also came up with one of the many beefs he had in the past.

Chael Sonnen recalls an old beef with a world-famous athletes

In the latest video on his YouTube channel, Chael Sonnen raised his concerns over substance use in the NBA. According to him, many athletes in the sport use “legalized” drugs to enhance their performance but are silent on this. Targeting LeBron James, the former NCAA wrestler, called out the NBA legend over being silent on the matter. Even though the “American gangster” later clarified that he has no issues with “chemical enhancement”. Stating them to be “necessary for level field”, he called out for transparency on their use.

Further in the video, he applauded people who have been open about their PED usage. This includes the likes of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. But at the same time gave a throwback to the former world champion road racing cyclist Lance Armstrong’s steroid scandal. Thus, highlighting the two different routes of PED usage. Sonnen later suggested LeBron James take the same route as the two actors. In a subtle tone, asking the legendary athlete to confess before he gets into a similar situation as Armstrong. In his own words:

“I’m trying to go to the other side with it. This site that Schwarzenegger went to, the side that Sylvester Stallone went to, the side that Suzanne Somers went to, which is to go out, look great, feel great, and then tell people the truth about what you did.”

For those unfamiliar, both Schwarzenegger and Stallone had been open about their PED usage. Armstrong, on the other hand, was stripped of his title in 2012 after he was found guilty of steroid abuse. He later came up with his confession for this during the famous episode of Oprah Winfrey‘s talk show. Sonnen, too, found himself in this controversy after a talk show received a unanimous call, blaming the cyclist’s history with steroids as a reason for his cancer. Initially, the UFC veteran got framed as the unanimous caller but later came out clean.

LeBron’s history with Sonnen is not the reason for this call-out.

After accusing LeBron James of using steroids throughout his NBA career, Chael Sonnen made it clear that it has nothing to do with their old beef. For those who don’t know, James came out in support of Anderson Silva during his rivalry with Sonnen. Something which became the reason for their beef. But according to “American Gangster”, this is not the reason behind his callout.
