When former UFC HW champ Francis Ngannou left UFC for the PFL, he faced a lot of backlash. A lot of people criticized him for his move to the PFL in search of a ‘bigger purse’. Among those people was the UFC legend and commentator Daniel Cormier. Cormier had initially labeled Ngannou’s move to the PFL as a bad decision.

Ngannou had a fallout with UFC President Dana White over contract details. News is, that Ngannou’s PFL contract is quite lucrative. It also has a clause that requires Ngannou’s opponents to be paid a minimum of $2 million. This clause, which was propagated by Ngannou, received acclamations from the entire combat industry.

Apologies To The ‘Predator’ – Cormier apologizes after ‘big purse’ fight for Ngannou gets confirmed

For those who aren’t aware of it, former UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou’s next opponent is the WBC champion Tyson Fury. The two are slated to fight on 28 October in Saudi Arabia. According to news, Francis Ngannou might be walking away with a humongous paycheck, after his fight against The Gypsy King.

Daniel Cormier didn’t know this when he called out Ngannou after he quit the UFC saying that he should return to the promotion. However, after Cormier got the wind of the purse for Ngannou vs. Fury, the UFC commentator and analyst had no option but to retract what he said – with an apology, of course.

“I’m sorry Francis. I’m sorry Francis. First off, I’m sorry Francis. I wanna fumble your bag too, Francis. Like, I mean… boy! It’s a crazy… crazy turn of events for Francis Ngannou but we are both insanely happy for him. I wanna be wrong, in this situation. I’m happy that he’s getting paid in that way.“, said Cormier, amazed at the sheer number.

Fans divided over DC’s apology to Francis Ngannou

Francis Ngannou might have faced a lot of heat when he moved to PFL. However, a legend like Daniel Cormier taking back his words and lauding Ngannou’s decision makes it all worth it.

Seeing Cormier’s reaction video to Ngannou’s purse for the Fury fight, fans immediately let their thoughts know.

Some criticized Cormier, commenting things like,

One fan suggested he spoke too soon.
