Francis Ngannou has been released from the UFC. The promotion president, Dana White, released the fighter during the UFC Vegas 67 post-fight press conference. Without a doubt, the news hit the world of mixed martial arts with an enormous bang. Undeniably, the fighter has remained one of the fan-favorite heavyweight fighters. With him walking out of the UFC, the fighter’s future in the world of combat sports has gotten a bit hazy. Nonetheless, Brett Okamoto and Mike Coppinger have predicted the heavyweight fighter’s next probable ventures. The unclear future has worried the fans, as well.
The former heavyweight champion was stripped of his title due to his long dormancy and other issues with White. Although he teased fighting against Jon Jones quite a few times, he has now seemingly targeted Tyson Fury.

The ‘Predator’ was recently released from the UFC and was declared a free agent. While the world was still absorbing the news and trying to get normal, ESPN’s Okamoto and Coppinger released the three platforms Ngannou might try next. The list included boxing, PFL, and Bellator MMA.
Without a doubt, the fans took to the comments section and expressed their thoughts. Many of the fans believed boxing wasn’t an option for Ngannou. However, many thought that Ngannou going against Fury would be a great match, too. Nonetheless, almost every fan believed that the fighter could do really well at Bellator. But he won’t get the views like that in the UFC.
Here is what fans had to say:
- You’re joking right? Francis is not a boxer. He’s slow compared to boxers. Any top 50 heavyweight boxer would demolish Francis.
- Boxing forsure
- One thing is notable in the Francis drama. The fighter knows his worth or at least, he values himself highly.
- PFL will be great!! Imagine Francis Ngannou on a same card with Jake Paul, massive PPV it will be UFC nightmare
- He’s washed up. UFC was the biggest check he’ll cut
- He’s gonna dominate in any other promotion other than boxing and even with boxing he has a chance to take out top competition with his power.
- Maybe he just retire and do something else besides combat sports
- He just wants a check so he’s going to go wherever they will pay him the most to do the least amount of work . And I don’t blame him
- He didn’t leave the UFC to go to Bellator. He’s trying to box Tyson Fury
- Boxing is the only thing that makes sense money-wise

Although the UFC president believed that Ngannou should complete his legacy, he was indeed forced to move forward and release him. “I think that we’re heading in the right direction with Francis. There’s no doubt about it that this is where Francis should be and Francis should, you know, finish his legacy here at the UFC. And I think we’re pretty close to getting it done,” said White.
Furthermore, White stated that the heavyweight fighter was now free to do whatever he wanted to. He said, “You can move on and do your thing.” Thereby, setting the former champion free from the bounds of the UFC.
