The main allure of getting in the ring against Jake Paul is the payout. In a recent episode of his podcast, former UFC heavyweight, Brendan Schaub, discussed the pay-per-view buys and estimated payouts of the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva boxing event. He compared it to the UFC model and gave his thoughts.

Schaub’s thoughts on Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva payouts

Brendan Schaub said that Jake Paul made $1.5 million guaranteed. He added it was Paul’s group MVP Production, along with Showtime, that put on the event. He also remarked that UFC fighters could take a few notes from that.

Schaub was referring to a report from DraftKings when citing the figures. He said Silva’s estimated payout was $5ooK. However, Silva also received 35% of the pay-per-view sales while Paul received 65%, Schaub added. He then discussed UFC’s model of PPV revenue split.

“The way the UFC works is you get pennies on the dollar for pay-per-view buys. Whether you’re Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, or Conor McGregor, you get pennies. They (Showtime and MVP) are giving guys 65% and 35%… So I’d be willing to bet Anderson could probably make, you know… five to ten million. Jake, 15 to 20 million off this fight.”

If we are to believe Schaub’s numbers, Silva’s gamble definitely paid off. ‘The Spider’ looked exceptionally good for a 47-year-old and gave ‘The Problem Child’ a run for his money.

Despite watching a legend lose, MMA fans can be happy that Silva secured a heavy bag for his future.

Schaub defended Paul against Anthony Smith

Jake Paul is a polarizing figure in the combat sports world. Especially among MMA fans, Paul has few friends because of how he goes after retired athletes of the sport. However, Brendan Schaub came to his defense when UFC light-heavyweight Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith called for a boycott of ‘The Problem Child.’

Smith lashed out against Paul on Michael Bisping’s podcast. He argued Paul should fight someone who is on his level instead of over-the-hill UFC legends. He was also critical of Paul trashing MMA and the UFC and his opponents, despite claims of wanting to improve their conditions.

Schaub countered Smith’s arguments, saying that these MMA representatives made more money against Paul than in their MMA careers. He was also supportive of Paul’s crusade for better fighter pay and pointed out how the 25-year-old brought more attention to the issue than anyone else using his platform.
