The noted UFC icon Conor McGregor packs incredible striking skills inside the octagon. When combined with his brash attitude on the mic, it forms the perfect recipe for the entertainment of MMA fans. However, there are a number of fans who believe that the 35-year-old Irishman had everything handed to him pretty easily. Former UFC lightweight champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov once implied the UFC gave a major boost to McGregor awarding him with unjustified title shots. As per the UFC community terminology, a lot of fans say McGregor had “Dana White privilege”. But it wasn’t only McGregor’s in-octagon skills that had the UFC authorities pushing him to the forefront.

Several fans also believe that McGregor’s Irish roots had the UFC CEO, Dana White, viewing him as a dear friend and providing him with the best opportunities that he could. Most fans might know that the 54-year-old was born in the city of Manchester in Connecticut, USA. But there are a number of reports stating that, like McGregor, White has Irish roots as well. But, ‘Mystic Mac’ is far from being the only athlete that White has backed. Currently, he is invested largely in Callum Walsh. But most fans may not know a lot about Callum Walsh. Callum Walsh is a professional boxer who also belongs to Conor McGregor’s home country, Ireland. UFC fans might know that White has a strong love for the sport of boxing. He dreamt of becoming a boxer as he grew up. Although the Irish-American didn’t manage to fulfill his dream, he did give boxing lessons to kids at the earlier stages of his professional life.

As already mentioned, Callum Walsh is an Irishman who competes in White’s beloved sport of boxing. This combination of his Irish roots and competing in boxing is probably what got Dana White interested in him. But, there are plenty of other Irish professional boxers currently. Thus, many fans might be confused as to why the UFC CEO chose Walsh out of all Irish boxers to support.

The answer may be hidden in the superb prowess that he has showcased to date. ‘Tapology’ reveals that Walsh currently holds an undefeated record of 8-0 in his professional boxing career to date. Moreover, the 22-year-old Walsh hardly depends on the judge’s scorecards to win a bout. Out of his eight victories, he only has a single win by unanimous decision.

UFC President Dana White backs up Callum Walsh

Dana White has been into Walsh’s fights since the middle of 2022. Reports also say that he attends Walsh’s fights quite frequently. White was also there to witness Walsh’s recent stoppage victory over Wesley Tucker in the month of March this year. Walsh is now unbeaten and stands with a remarkable 8-0 record, and White is determined to keep the 21-year-old on a consistent path.

In an episode of the UFC-presented YouTube series, ‘Dana White: Lookin’ For a Fight’, the UFC CEO loaded Walsh with praises. He said, “Callum is a very talented guy. He’s got unbelievable knockout power”.

As already mentioned, White has an affinity towards Walsh since he is Irish. But, we all know how Dana White promoted Conor McGregor’s boxing match against Floyd Mayweather.
