Aljamain Sterling and Floyd Mayweather, is there something wrong between the two? Mayweather is an undefeated former champion boxer while Sterling is the former UFC bantamweight champion of the world. But they have crossed paths, and that is the story we delve into today.

Mayweather is still 50-0 in his career while ‘Aljo’ has seen days that were less kind to him, losing his bantamweight title to Sean O’Malley who currently reigns as the champion. But when the incident between the pair went down, Sterling was undefeated too. So, how close did we really get to an undefeated boxer vs. undefeated MMA star matchup?

Aljamain Sterling and his girlfriend Rebecca Cruz, were just minding their business at a club when Floyd Mayweather took notice of them. Mayweather allegedly sent some of his men to ask the two to come down to his party in the same building, but ‘Funk Master’ could tell that the intentions were nefarious.

Aljamain Sterling spoke about the whole incident on a podcast, detailing how exactly Mayweather and his tactics would work. “He sent over his minions to try to pick her up. This is back in 2016, and I was still undefeated at that time. So he sent over a girl… no he sent over a guy first. Told us we can both come down (to his party),” he said.

Sterling felt like he knew exactly what would happen if he went to the party. “I am like ‘man I ain’t stupid like that’. If I come over there, you guys are gonna try to take her up and try to push me back. And I am going to feel some type of way and then, like ‘nah now I gotta create a scene’. You are not going to punk me like that.”

Sterling admitted that he was ready to take it to the street if Mayweather agreed. He said that both of them were undefeated and that they could go out and decide which sport was better.

The story did not end there for Sterling, who claimed to be a fan of the boxer but wasn’t about to fall for his tricks. The boxer later sent over a woman too, to ask the two to go down to his party. It was then that he challenged Mayweather to a bout.

However, according to him, Mayweather’s associates probably didn’t relay that information to the boxer. Now, Aljamain Sterling is all set to fight Calvin Kattar at UFC 300. He’s promised to put on a great show of striking against the featherweight stalwart.

‘The Boston Finisher’ is 1-3 in his last four, with a lopsided beat down loss to Max Holloway in 2021. This fight against the former bantamweight champion is the perfect opportunity for Kattar to turn his luck around. As for Sterling, a new division is for the taking and and win could boost the former champion up the rankings significantly.
