If his match against Logan Paul takes place without hindrance, it’ll be the third combat sport calling for Dillon Danis. Previously, he has fought on the grappling mat and inside the steel cage and will now make his way to the squared circle. But how far is the American fighter from his BJJ roots? It has been almost six years since he last participated in a grappling contest that ended in a loss. And it appears ‘El Jefe’ wants a revenge match against the victor, Gordon Ryan.
Notably, it was the 2017 ADCC World Championship when ‘The King’ made his BJJ debut and faced Danis. While he went on to carve out a big name for himself later, he could only squeeze out a referee’s decision against Danis. That was the last of what the world saw of Danis in a professional grappling match, as he then ventured into the MMA world, fighting under the Bellator banner. However, Conor McGregor‘s teammate knows their paths are destined to meet again in a record-shattering match.

The 30-year-old fighter appeared on the ‘Johnny Drinks Podcast’ and, when asked about a match against the BJJ star, had a positive response. Further, he disclosed that the match would crush every record in history for numbers.
He said, “I think that me and Gordon would break every record in jiu-jitsu history for numbers. For anything. So for the love of Jiu-Jitsu, I think I have to do that much.”
However, the question remained whether Ryan wanted a rematch. He has been at the pinnacle of the sport ever since Danis bowed out of it. Moreover, his recent health issues have made his competitive appearances remain sporadic. He has spent the last few months recovering. But have the thoughts of a rematch crossed Ryan’s mind?
Will Gordon Ryan accept the rematch offer?
Following this, the MMA fighter admitted Ryan’s willingness was not an obstacle, as they had already discussed the probable rematch. In addition, Danis revealed he wouldn’t accept to do it for his bitter rival but for his love for Jiu-Jitsu. He stated, “Yeah, no, he will. We talked about it. I would do it for jiu-jitsu. I wouldn’t do it for him because I’m just giving him the free clout.”

“But yeah, I would do it for Jiu-Jitsu, to make the sport bigger. I think it would definitely in the amount of purses that are being offered for this match over the years is like no one’s ever getting paid in jiu-jitsu ever again,” Danis added.
The two have been at each other’s throats ever since their fateful meeting. The fans have witnessed the two exchanging heated words and engaging in banter. Therefore, the rematch is expected to garner eyeballs and enormous revenue for the promoters.
