Last weekend, the former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, earned a decision win over former WBC champion, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Though this was only Silva’s third fight as a professional boxer, he turned many heads with his performance against an opponent with over 60 fights under his belt.
Mexican legend Canelo Alvarez greeted Silva after the fight. ‘The Spider’ was in awe of that gesture from Alvarez. He recently revealed he was in complete disbelief as he got the chance to interact with the multi-weight class boxing champion.

“I’m not surprised, I’m very happy you know, and it’s funny because I watching the last night I watching the videos with Muhammad Ali, Canelo, Roy Jones Jr., Mayweather and the guys inspire me a lot you know. I like watching the whole night. And my coach just come to my room and say go sleep you have a fight tomorrow, and it’s okay I go, I go but I’m watching a lot Muhammad Ali, Roy Jones Jr., Canelo, Mayweather, you know, and I’m so happy,” said Silva.
“I don’t believe you that you know and Canelo sign my glove. And when I saw Canelo, it’s real, Canelo’s come to talk to me… This the God for boxing right now, and come to talk to me. I’m so happy. Because that’s what I talked to my coach, I need you show him my respect for the people in the community boxing community. You know, I can’t come in here and don’t do my best, you know. I know I need to working hard because boxing is completely different,” added the UFC legend.

What’s next for Anderson Silva after his win against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.?

Silva has indicated that he would like to continue in boxing. The 46-year-old has vowed to make a quick turnaround back to the squared ring. And given his status as a legendary figure in combat sports, one can expect ‘The Spider’ to get a worthy opponent next.
Silva’s former foe, Vitor Belfort, recently called him out for a rematch, this time, in the boxing ring. Hence, options are in abundance for ‘The Spider‘. It will be interesting to see his next move.
