It is very rare indeed for a fight to live up to its hype. And yet, the Conor Benn vs. Chris Eubank Jr. clash this weekend absolutely did just that and delivered beyond way expectations. Their generational clash, of course, goes back to both men’s fathers– Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn– who had two memorable, incredibly entertaining fights back in the nineties. And the apples haven’t fallen far from the trees.

Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn went the full twelve rounds with the latter walking away with a 116-112 unanimous decision on all the judges’ scorecards. But both men tried their hardest to make sure the fight finished in a knockout, going all-out and throwing wildly, at times. But alas, none of the power shots connected. However, the duo gave fight fans everything they could ask for– a thrilling action packed fight where both men came to fight.

And that is why even fellow fighters have nothing but good things to say about the fight, with UFC lightweight legend, Dustin Poirier, saluting them for the effort. “Incredible fight man🫡,” ‘The Diamond’ wrote on Benn’s first post since the loss. Despite the result, Benn seems to be in remarkably good spirits and had a pretty inspirational message for his fans.

“Sometimes when you’re in a dark place, you think you’ve been buried, but you’ve actually been planted. ❤️,” the 28-year-old wrote on his Instagram account along with a few pictures from the fight.

So intense was their fight that the winner, Eubank Jr., was taken to the hospital after the fight, but reportedly wasn’t for anything serious. No wonder a true warrior like Poirier saluted their effort. But in the not-too-far future, ‘The Diamond’ will probably give Benn and Eubank Jr. a chance to return the favor.

Dustin Poirier set to showdown against Max Holloway in farewell fight

Dustin Poirier’s last-ever fight is all set. ‘The Diamond’, of course, had announced he would be bidding adieu to the sport at UFC 302 last year. But the exact details of his farewell were unknown, and a hot subject of speculation among the fans. Well, now we know. Poirier announced on Pat McAfee’s show that he would be fighting fellow legend Max Holloway at UFC 318 this July.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Benn vs. Eubank Jr. live up to their fathers' legendary battles, or did it fall short?

Have an interesting take?

The fight will take place in the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, near Poirier’s hometown of Lafayette. And what a clash it is promising to be. Both men, of course, are some of the most popular fighters among fans since they are absolute warriors. The duo has already fought twice in the UFC so far.

Both those fights were won by Poirier, who submitted Holloway in one of those and won a unanimous decision in their second, which was for the interim lightweight belt. So there is plenty of history between them. Moreover, what makes this fight even more special is that Holloway holds the BMF title. So, at least Poirier’s last-ever UFC fight will be for a title. What do you think about Dustin Poirier’s comments regarding Benn vs. Eubank Jr?
