Former UFC fighter Nate Diaz and YouTuber turned-boxer Jake Paul gave fans one of the biggest news in combat sports with the announcement of their boxing bout. Going down on August 5th in Dallas, this will be Diaz’s first fight after turning free agent last year. Paul, on the other hand, is coming off a loss to Tommy Fury and will be aiming to get back in the win column against the former UFC fighter.

As the hype builds around the event and numerous sports personalities share their take on it, a UFC star and a top contender too opened up about it on his YouTube channel. Claiming that this was probably one of the biggest fights that could possibly have been made, he also happened to address the chances of Nate Diaz beating the 26-year-old Paul.

UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley, in his latest video, addressed the fight between Diaz and Paul as he sat down to discuss multiple combat-related news on his channel. Calling Diaz a “legend”, O’Malley had high praise for this bout, even dubbing it “one of the biggest fights” that could have been made at this point in time.

“It’s one of the biggest fights you could possibly make right now, potentially the biggest fight,” he claimed.

Pointing out the massive fan following of the Stockton native, the 28-year-old bantamweight also claimed that Jake Paul couldn’t have found himself a much bigger name to fight than Diaz.

“I don’t know a fight bigger for Jake right now than Nate Diaz.” He stated.

Considering the massive support that the 37-year-old has amassed over his long and illustrious MMA career, O’Malley’s comments do carry some weight when looked into from a number’s perspective. Also, the fact that Jake Paul himself has an ardent fan following of his own, this fight could turn out to be one of the biggest selling events as pointed out by ‘Sugar’.

O’Malley on Diaz’s chances in the fight

Addressing how the fight would go down, the bantamweight, despite stating that fans haven’t seen much of Diaz in the boxing ring, claimed the Stockton native had enough experience training with elite boxers that could help him see the fight through.

“He’s been literally sparring pro boxers his entire career for 20 years,” O’Malley said

Pointing out the endurance that Diaz was famous for during his time in the UFC, the 28-year-old then explained that despite lacking power, the southpaw could rely on his volume and cardio in the latter stages of the fight.

“Might not have the power but the thing is, when you get to a certain level of fatigue, you don’t need that much power. You need volume and just the right shot to land,” he said.
