UFC champion Sean O’Malley finally came out and addressed the callout made towards him by Ryan Garcia. Almost a week back, the boxing superstar during an interview on “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani called out the UFC bantamweight champion for an MMA fight. This wasn’t the first time that the 24-1 boxer showed interest in fighting the flashy MMA knockout artist. However, this time around, the callout caught a ton of steam in the fight community.
Ryan Garcia had been beefing with quite a lot of people over the past few weeks, and O’Malley was just one of those many. During the interview, Garcia claimed that he was a natural wrestler and that he was made for wrestling. His callout caught the attention of the UFC champ, who gave his take on how the fight would play out.

Sean O’Malley addressed the callout during a recent episode of the PBD podcast. And Patrick Bet-David didn’t miss a beat to ask the UFC champion how he thought a fight between Garcia and himself would play out in the UFC. “Suga” claimed that he would probably win by submission early on in the fight as he said, “So I think the fastest way to victory then would be a… probably choke him. I probably could choke him in a couple of like a couple minutes. That’s being humble.”

Unlike Ryan Garcia’s seemingly baseless predictions of out-wrestling O’Malley, the UFC champ’s prediction of how the fight would go is not exaggerated in the slightest. “Suga” despite being an incredible striker, also has incredible grappling. He submitted an outstanding grappler in Takanori Gomi during a QUINTET Ultra grappling match. The fact that Gomi fights two weight classes higher than Sean O’Malley, just makes his win even more impressive.
Garcia, on the other hand, despite being an incredibly talented boxer, doesn’t share the same experience in grappling or MMA as O’Malley. “King” would most likely have an upper hand if it comes to boxing. And O’Malley played it pretty cool considering how confident the boxer was in calling the UFC champ out. But what did the 25-year-old actually say when he called out the 17-1 (1NC) champion?
Ryan Garcia’s bold call out of “Suga”
During his conversation with Ariel Helwani, the 25-year-old boxer spoke up on his beef with the UFC bantamweight champion. He went on to confidently claim that he would not only beat the 29-year-old champion in boxing but also in an MMA fight.
He stated, “I’ll beat his a** in MMA. Guaranteed. I’m a natural wrestler. I just beat my security that’s a wrestler, I beat him! I’m strong and I got crazy conditioning… I know I’m going to knock him out in boxing, that’s not even fair. What is fair is to test myself in MMA. I would destroy Sean O’Malley.”
