Tyson Fury had a clear message for Francis Ngannou ahead of their boxing match in Saudi Arabia on October 23. The WBC and lineal heavyweight champion, in his typically bombastic style, told Ngannou he would knock him out in the fight to find out who is ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’.

Ngannou had expressed his interest in boxing even before he departed from the UFC. He chose to exit over differences in fighter pay and health insurance after his contract with the promotion ended earlier this year. Fury had called out Ngannou from the ring following his sixth-round stoppage victory over Dillian Whyte in 2022. But how do the two fighters match up against each other?

“Ngannou, You’re getting it, you big dosser. You big, stiff dosser, you’re getting knocked out. You’re getting knocked out, slink,” a confident Gypsy King warns Ngannou. Fury is a master trash talker and uses it to good effect to build interest, hype up fights, and get under his opponents’ skins. He once came to a pre-fight press conference against then-champion Wladimir Klitschko dressed as Batman.

Boxing fans would like to see Fury fight Oleksandr Usyk to unify the heavyweight division under one undisputed champion. This would be the first time since Lennox Lewis that someone achieved that feat. Meanwhile, some fans have derided the fight, believing its outcome to be a foregone conclusion but Ngannou poses a peculiar problem for the Brit.

Fury uses his bulky 6’9″ frame to excellent effect, leaning on his opponents and tiring them out. But, in Ngannou, he comes across someone who is just as strong. Ngannou’s strength and mass will also negate much of the size difference.

Fury fought his last opponent, Derek Chisora at around 270 lbs, while Ngannou fights at around 260 lbs. But Fury does have 5 inches over the former UFC heavyweight champion, which might help if he chooses to box the PFL star from the outside.

While the contest will be held under the official Queensberry rules of boxing, as a proper boxing match, Fury’s titles are not on the line. Despite, all these nuances, fans are still divided in their opinions about this fight.
