While many predicted it, no one actually liked to see the once-dominating Mike Tyson getting overpowered by 27-year-old Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium, Texas, on the eve of 15th November. ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’ proved why is called so with a resonating slap during the official face-off. However, things didn’t go as he expected inside the squared ring. The fight ended with the scoreboard reading 79-73 in favor of the YouTuber-turned-professional boxer. Needless to say, the outcome greatly disappointed the fighting community.
Former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou was also heartbroken with the result of the fight. Even though he was an integral part of the Professional Fighting League, ‘The Predator’ gave a stern warning to Paul on X. The heavyweight MMA fighter wrote, “Next time I see this [Jake Paul] guy I’m gonna give him 2 or 3 slaps.”
Ngannou’s feelings were reciprocated by various other big guns from the sporting community. The list included Magic Johnson and Shaquille O’Neal, who believed that the night of 15th November was simply “not great for boxing.” Both O’Neal and Conor McGregor placed a huge amount of money on Tyson’s victory. But alas! Fate had different plans.

Frustrated with Paul’s habit of fighting old and retired fighters, ‘Mystic Mac’ lashed out at the 27-year-old and his team, and pulled the paralysed former boxer Prichard Colon into the discussion. In a now-deleted tweet, Conor McGregor wrote, “They are eyeing Prichard Colon for next opponent.” No doubt, it was a jibe at Jake Paul trying to prove himself against slower opponents.
Despite the unfortunate loss, Mike Tyson has refused to hang his gloves and retire. Let’s see who he has targeted for a probable last dance.

Mike Tyson won’t retire despite being overpowered by Jake Paul
In a conversation with the famed MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani, after the bout against Paul, Tyson stood strong in his stance and hinted at a return to the boxing ring. In a reply to Helwani, ‘Iron’ quoted, “It depends on the situation… I don’t think so. I don’t know. Maybe, I’ll fight his brother [Logan Paul].” No doubt, this was an unexpected move that shocked the entire world, including Logan Paul. He simply accepted the challenge and replied with, “I’d k–l you Mike.”
And as far as Jake Paul was concerned, he had already targeted Canelo Alvarez for his next gig. It would indeed be an interesting bout, but what’s more interesting is what lies ahead of it. Peter Murray, the CEO of PFL, recently announced that ‘The Problem Child’ would debut in an MMA cage sometime in 2025. However, the opponent for his MMA debut is still undecided.

Nevertheless, the event at AT&T Stadium was a huge success. After all, it garnered more than 250 million active viewers, a number that even Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather failed to achieve. With the Paul brothers’ rising popularity, Logan Paul vs. Mike Tyson might just break all records, don’t you think?
