Former UFC star Nate Diaz‘s teammate, Chris Avila, scored a major win over former UFC champion, Anthony Pettis. In a fight that went to the distance, the Stockton native’s teammate managed to outscore ‘Showtime’ with a unanimous decision win, and with that, came a few reactions from fans and personalities from the combat sports world, especially Conor McGregor‘s friend and training partner, Dillon Danis.

The Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz 2 boxing event went down as scheduled, but it was a great day at the office for the latter’s teammate. Chris Avila secured his 6th career win yet again via decision as his opponent Anthony Pettis fell short and lost via unanimous decision with the score of 58-56, 59-55, and 59-55.

There was a lot of excitement about Anthony Pettis’s boxing venture, and if you’re wondering why? It’s because in his first pro fight, ‘Showtime’ defeated the legendary Roy Jones Jr. As such, fans expected to see some real actions in a fight that ended up with judges scoring in favor of his opponent.

The fans were not that impressed with the way the fight went down as a couple of fans claimed, “That fight was a snooze fest. Can’t wait to watch the next one,” and, “All I saw were two drunk uncles fighting at a summer bbq.” Some fans even claimed that the fight between Chris Avila and Anthony Pettis made the recent boxing scrap between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen look like a better fight, and guess what? They’d deem the fight between the two UFC legends as exciting as the fight between Jose Castillo and Diego Corrales, which is still considered to be one of the best boxing bouts of all time. Another fan said, “Made Silva/Sonnen look like Castillo/Corrales.”

The fans’ expectation level wasn’t met in that fight, but some felt as if the judges did the right thing by scoring it in favor of Nate Diaz’s teammate. While one fan would state, “Excellent decision,” the other one would disagree with it by claiming that, “this avila guy is boring as expected.” Now that the boxing match is done and Anthony Pettis couldn’t claim victory, fans ideated a fight between him and Chris Avila inside the 8-sided cage for an MMA fight.
