Is Oscar De La Hoya just trying to stir the pot with his latest move on Canelo?

Dana White and Oscar De La Hoya have been at each other’s throats for a while now. The two were previously inseparable buddies, but now, things have turned muddy. Despite the problems between them, De La Hoya took a step forward and decided to watch UFC 306 live, with aspirations to ‘hang out’ with the UFC head honcho. Even though it helped sell one more ticket for the event, White wasn’t happy about it at all. He seemed to believe that De La Hoya didn’t respect Alvarez enough to miss out on his bout.

As the hype for Riyadh Season Noche UFC continued to rise, the UFC head honcho appeared in an interview with Grind City Media’s John Morgan, on ‘Cageside’. During the brief talk, Mogan asked White about his opinion on De La Hoya getting a ticket for UFC 306. White wasted no time and said, “I don’t know where he’s getting his tickets from, but he definitely isn’t getting it from me. I don’t know if he’s coming with Sheikh Turki, or what his deal is. But yeah, I saw it. And it’s him trying to sh*t on Canelo, and I said it a million times, I respect Canelo. I like Canelo. Met him, he’s a nice guy.”

According to many fight fans, De La Hoya should have ensured his presence at the T-Mobile Arena for the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Edgar Berlanga, which is scheduled to take place on the same day as UFC 306. Instead, the Golden Boy Promotions boss took to Instagram and declared that he wanted to meet White. He pointed out that White got the same abs surgery as him, and declared, “It will be great to hang out with you face to face.”

But it’s not just White who has an enmity with De La Hoya. Alvarez and the former boxer are also not on speaking terms with each other. De La Hoya even lashed out at the PPV price for the fight between Alvarez and Berlanga for being a minimum of $500 per person. However, he didn’t fail to secure a ticket for himself at almost double the price for UFC 306.

White has often talked trash about De La Hoya. But there was a time he attacked his former friend for being oblivious about the fighters in his promotion.

De La Hoya previously dissed the world of mixed martial arts where the athletes were getting paid way less than what they deserved. The former professional boxer indeed targeted the Ultimate Fighting Championship in his jibe. And the UFC head honcho wasn’t happy about it and decided to make some revelations about the head of Golden Boy Promotions

White claimed, “I’m going to get into MMA; pay these guys what they deserve to be paid; no, he didn’t, and you know, the guys that were involved in that fight all got f**ked, right? Uh, he didn’t pay them more than they ever made in their careers; he didn’t even know half the guy f**king names on the card.”
