Ngannou recently appeared in an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. Rogan and the guest talked about how the power in his hooks and jabs as a heavyweight has gone through many fighters. With unquestionable knock out power comes the question of longevity. So now that Ngannou is out of the UFC, will he continue to reign supreme?
This question will probably find a suitable answer soon as the fighter goes up against Tyson Fury for the PFL. Fury is perhaps this generations Mike Tyson with a near spotless record to his name. So, to prepare against such a foe, it’s natural that Ngannou needs to prepare hard and smart.
“. . .Three or two sometimes (days a week),” Ngannou said to Rogan on how many times he trains a week.”Depends again, how you’re feeling and how the recovery has been. How was the sparring? You know? Sometimes you get to sparring and you feel like yeah, even though you did the amount of rounds that you’re supposed to do but you wasn’t that intense. And the next day . . . you push again and sometimes you just go to sparring and that’s when it’s hard. The guy gives you a hard time. You pushed. The pace is high. Then next day, you need recovery.”
Clearly, he’s not overdoing things to keep himself in top-notch condition. The fighter also spoke about how he has almost incompletely recovered from his knee injury that he suffered ahead of fighting Ciryl Gane. He almost pulled out of that fight, but then did it anyway.
