Besides UFC fighters, the only people who get a close-up view of what goes down in the Octagon is the ring official. John McCarthy or Big John is a legendary UFC official who is currently retired and runs his own podcast with Josh Thompson where he is seen talking about UFC, MMA, and cross-over fights that are currently trending.

Elon Musk calling out Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg for a cage fight in the UFC Vegas Octagon is still making headlines. With big names from UFC getting involved and new developments every day, it only makes sense that Big John would share his opinion of the same with his fans in a recent episode of his YouTube podcast. The former UFC official was not pleased and had a mouthful to say.

UFC President Dana White has been facing backlash ever since he nominated himself to promote the fight. John McCarthy is the latest UFC personality to have jumped onto the bandwagon and what he had to say about the fight and its prospects, might come as a shock to some.

People have this idea that they wanna see something, alright? You don’t wanna see this. This is an… this would be an embarrassment. [stammers] It’s like watching old people f**k. You think you want to see it until all of a sudden it’s in front of you and you go – holy f**k what am I looking at? Okay? You don’t wanna see this.” said Big John, astounded at the suggested match-up between the two tech-tycoons.

Harping on an important point, John McCarthy reminded everyone that it takes time to get used to being in a real fight and taking a barrage of kicks and punches. “You have two guys… I don’t know… [stammers] This is the most f*****g ridiculous goddamn thing ever. Mark Zuckerberg taking a punch in the face. How do you think he’s gonna react? I don’t give a s***t if you’re training with people. You can’t… it takes time to learn how to take freaking take a shot, instead of turning away like you’re a goddamn kid on a school yard and all of a sudden, facing the fence and hoping – and clicking your heels and hoping that… you know, they take you away.”.

These guys are not gonna fight. It’s gonna be an embarrassment. It would be the most ridiculous and stupid thing ever and it would not break any records.”, concluded the retired ring official.

Dana White facing backlash, UFC fighters picking sides and aiming for a record-breaking PPV – Biggest ‘Gimmick Fight’

White volunteered to promote the potential fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Although the UFC president has maintained that he is against ‘gimmick fights’ and MMA fighters foraying into boxing, fans have been calling him out on his hypocritical approach to this one.

UFC Fighters like Jon Jones, Georges St-Pierre, Uriah Hall, and Eddie Alvarez have picked their respective sides, nominating themselves to help the tycoons train ahead of their ‘cage fight’.

As of now, the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight holds the record in that matter with a whopping $4.6 million PPV buys. ‘Big’ John McCarthy seems to believe that there is no way that the fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg can break the standing record.
