The whole world watched with bated breath as two of combat’s greatest sons clashed in Saudi Arabia on 28th October. UFC’s former heavyweight champ Francis Ngnannou battled it out with the WBC champ, Tyson Fury in a boxing ring, marking his professional boxing debut.

Ngannou was a prominent UFC heavyweight fighter and held the title till he left the promotion. He also has the hardest punch in history. Add that up and it gives the Cameroon hard-hitter a good chance of securing a win against Tyson Fury. However, in the end, Fury got comfortable and secured a win by decision. Meanwhile, Francis Ngannou was distraught by the final decision and called it out on X (formerly Twitter).

When the fight started, Fury seemed comfortable. He had done this n number of times. However, it was Ngannou who was to watch out for – and he delivered. The former UFC champ brought the fight to Fury and even knocked him down at a point during the fight. He kept the pressure on him and landed some really good shots.

The fight was a close one, but Ngannou did exceed expectations and brought the fight to The Gypsy King.” In the end, when the judges scored in favor of Fury, Ngannou was really distraught. He recently took to X to express his disappointment with the way things ended in Saudi Arabia. “This boxing world wild but some judges should be responsible for their actions. This type of stuff is what fucks up people’s career. #FuryvsNgannou” read the tweet that Ngannou made.

No title but a big purse – Francis Ngannou’s earnings against Tyson Fury

Francis Ngannou’s move to the PFL was a big money move for him. While a lot of people might have criticized him for it, he proved everybody wrong. People initially thought that he would make $8 million. However, fellow PFL signee Jake Paul clarified that he would be making 8 figures, not $8 million.

It is reported that Ngannou made away with around $10 million from the Fury fight. Now, given the dominant performance that he put up against Fury, one can only assume that things would get better for Ngannou here on. However, the question that is on everyone’s mind is this – is Ngannou going to pursue a career in boxing after the fight against The Gypsy King? Or will he go back to MMA any time soon?
