The date for Riyadh Season UFC Noche has clashed with the date for the boxing bout between Canelo Alvarez and Edgar Berlanga. This clash has created quite an uproar in the fighting community and the world has expressed its worries regarding the previously unsold tickets for UFC 306. But the press conference for Dana White’s Contender Series Season 8 week 5 urged the UFC head honcho to make some revelations.
Dana White went on to thank Al Hayman for setting up the date for Noche UFC. But he didn’t flinch when he talked about having to compete with Alvarez vs. Berlanga. During the press conference for DWCS season 8 week 5, a reporter asked the UFC CEO if he was happy about Oscar De La Hoya’s presence in the Sphere.
White announced that the Golden Boy Promotions boss was indeed going to come to the Sphere and watch the fights alongside Sheikh Turki Alalsikh. He dissed his former friend and rival a bit and turned his attention to Alvarez’s popularity in Mexico.

White narrated the story of his travels through the roads of Mexico City when he spotted a boxing ring in a playground. He said, “A boxing ring in the middle of the playground! There are lots of people from Mexico that are huge boxing fans. Canelo is one of the greatest ever dude, he’s a legend, and a hero in Mexico. And people will go watch him fight. What we’re doing down the street is completely different than what they are doing. And ours just sold out for the biggest gate ever, too. So, it’s good for all of us.“
Needless to say, White has an immense respect for Alvarez. After all, he is one of the most celebrated fighters to have ever graced the squared rings. But now, the UFC boss got yet another chance to diss his friend-turned-enemy.
