There is no secret that when it comes to making a fortune out of their MMA careers, Conor Mcgregor stands miles ahead of almost everyone. ‘The Notorious’ single-handedly changed the game with his blockbuster PPVs, and opened the floodgates for big money fights in the UFC. But the Irish superstar’s recent comments on making more money than the entire Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev 2 card didn’t seem to fit well with the fans. Last Saturday, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the boxing icons had a rematch with WBA, WBC, IFB, WBO, and The Ring titles on the line.
According to a post by The Boxing Man on X, a massive payout of $32.1 million was estimated for the entire card on Saturday, with Bivol and Beterbiev bagging $10 million each. Replying to the post, Conor Mcgregor gave his thoughts on the payouts in his signature bragging tone. “If accurate i made more than this entire card’s estimated payout combined in my last outing for the UFC 2021. I garnered record gate, as well as record PPV’s for the company through my service. #MONEY” he commented in reply to a post about the payouts from last Saturday.
The card mentioned by ‘The Notorious’ is UFC 264, where he faced Dustin Poirier and lost via TKO. According to Forbes, ‘The Irishman’ made a staggering $23 million for his outing that night. Yet it still falls short of the $32 million mark as reported for the Riyadh card, past Saturday. In the year 2021, McGregor’s total earnings were reported to be around $180 million, of which $158 million were earned outside of his fighting career.

Some users attacked Conor for giving inaccurate figures while trying to insert himself into this situation and flaunt his wealth. Comments like the following reflected that, “Can’t believe anything this dude says but”, “Who cares dude stays trying to be relevant”, “Money has created a demon in Conor. No longer secure in the person he is”,
One user questioned the legitimacy of the post that McGregor reacted to, “Yeah no shot thats real, saudi guys pay minimal is like 25, no shot francis got like 20 and they got 10 for bivol vs beterbiev”. Another user straight up accused ‘The Notorious’ of lying, “yeah go ahead and believe conor mcgregor”, while another declared their disinterest of the whole thing, “My sympathies are with anybody who finds this interesting.”
While most of them seem to have disagreed with the comments made by the former two-division champ, there were still some who speculated a hint of truth in it. Fighters in the past have spoken about undisclosed earnings, and maybe Conor’s comments were hinting at those profits. Some fans wrote, “I believe him 🤷♂️ remember rampage and GSP said they were making 5 to nearly 15mill a fight with ppv points and big undisclosed purses 🤔”, “He means money generated, not received (I think)”, and “So like..Dana obviously has the capability of paying his fighters more.”
