Francis Ngannou exiting from the UFC has made waves in the MMA community. He has now planned to pursue a boxing career. UFC critic and MMA analyst Chael Sonnen has presented his own take on the situation in a recent video posted on his YouTube channel. He has taken Conor McGregor and his boxing ventures into consideration to draw parallels between the two athletes.

According to UFC brass, Francis Ngannou refused to re-sign with the premier MMA promotion despite receiving several revised and updated contracts from the UFC execs. ‘The Predator’ wants to fight boxing legend Tyson Fury and has stated that UFC’s contract includes the terms for him to be able to pursue boxing.

Ngannou has also stated that his fallout with the UFC president happened due to Dana White‘s desire to control the terms of his contract. But Chael Sonnen has analyzed this situation and has drawn a comparison between Conor McGregor‘s pursuit to that of Ngannou.

Chael Sonnen’s comparison between Francis Ngannou and Conor McGregor

Chael Sonnen believes that Francis Ngannou‘s decision to box stems from Conor McGregor‘s match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He also mentions McGregor never asked Dana White to add the terms that Francis Ngannou wants to add to his contract. “Where did you get that idea, by the way, that you’re gonna go box? Oh! you got it from McGregor [Conor] when he did go do it. He did it with Mayweather,” said Sonnen. He also mentioned that a boxing match was a big deal.

He added, “It was a very valuable thing to have, the UFC champion of the world …He was [two-division] simultaneous champion of the world.”

Chael Sonnen believes the only difference between Conor McGregor and Francis Ngannou is that the former never made any demands like the latter. He also claims that the Irish sensation got his match because he was the UFC champion at that time and Dana White had his back. What are your thoughts? Drop your comments below.
