Does Mike Tyson's return at 58 inspire you, or should legends stay retired to preserve their legacy?

Mike Tyson already had every fight fan’s respect for his impressive accolades in boxing, but when he came back for one more fight at 58 years old, he garnered even more love from the fans because his opponent Jake Paul just couldn’t drop ‘Iron.’ However, there was a certain section of those fans who really did not fancy a Tyson comeback against a 31-year younger opponent, and among those bunch was PFL champion, Francis Ngannou.

Francis Ngannou wanted to train with Mike Tyson, which he did, and that training paid off pretty well as ‘The Predator’ gave the former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury a run for his money. But it doesn’t look like the former UFC and reigning PFL heavyweight champion wanted to see Tyson fight again, and when he saw the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history take on Jake Paul, Ngannou wasn’t very pleased about it.

“It just hurt me to see there, in that situation, like, knowing Mike and what he can do and see him there with Jake Paul, and Jake Paul like, hey man, like, that sight just hurt me,” Francis Ngannou told TMZ. However, the Cameroonian-French star gave credit where credit was due by acknowledging,  congratulating, and commending Mike Tyson for giving tough competition to his younger counterpart.

“You have to give it to Mike, man. This is 58-year-old Mike Tyson that’s been doing this sport since 12 years old, I believe, and… to still be able to stand up on his own, at this age, I think it’s impressive,” Francis Ngannou further added. “Stand up against a 27-year-old guy, even though I would say he wouldn’t be at that level, but wasn’t that much of a threat to Mike…You have to give it up to him.”

After the fight it was all respect between Tyson and Paul. ‘The Problem child’ did not give in to his schtick and was candid about the respect Tyson had earned on fight night, and through the course of his career. But Paul did admit, responding to the media, that he carried Tyson a little bit and was not actively trying to knock him out – “ Definitely a bit. I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt.”

Francis Ngannou clearly doesn’t want Mike Tyson getting in the ring again, but he might not like the fact that ‘Iron’ indicated that he’s willing to step back inside the Octagon.

Have an interesting take?

Mike Tyson went through all eight rounds and didn’t get knocked down even once by Jake Paul. However, he could only manage to land a total of 18 out of his 97 punches and 5 of his 62 jab attempts compared to Jake Paul, who landed 78 out of a total of 278 punches and 31 jabs to go along with it. Despite getting overwhelmed by a younger boxer, Tyson claims that he can do it again, but only if the right opportunity presents itself, while also teasing that he could go for the other Paul brother.

“Yes, I am really happy and not surprised that it went to 8 rounds. I did not prove anything to anybody, only to myself. I am just happy that I did this,” Mike Tyson stated in the post-fight interview. “It [another fight] depends on the situation. I don’t think so. I could fight Logan next.” Well, Logan Paul didn’t seem too excited about the offer, but who knows? Maybe we’ll get that fight as well.
