Conor McGregor vs. KSI in the ring—who's got the upper hand in this unexpected showdown?

Earlier this week, UFC superstar Conor McGregor and YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI turned up the heat in the fight industry, which has been brewing day by day. It all started with the recently held ‘One and Done’ BKFC event in Marbella, where the 37-year-old McGregor was present as a new partial owner of the MMA promotion. All of this transpired at a time when McGregor has been struggling to finalize his next combat outing. His last potential opponent, Michael Chandler, moved on to a clash against Charles Oliveira at UFC 309, leaving McGregor without a dancing partner.

So what could be a better matchup than the “YouTube nerd” KSI, who is currently in the limelight for his recently released pop-rap song ‘Thick of It’? McGregor had some harsh words for KSI’s song, labeling it a “bullsh*t song,” and he wasn’t alone; the track received negative reviews from various critics. Elias Andrews of HotNewHipHop described it as “lacking any real song structure.”

However, KSI recently turned the tables by announcing the success of his latest song on X, which has now reached nine out of the top 10 singles in the UK this week, despite the hate from others. KSI claimed, “Ladies and gentlemen, this is now my 9th top 10 single! So to all the haters—haha! To everyone who’s been supporting the song, thank you guys so much! You have been amazing, legit. Having nine to ten singles is crazy!”

KSI further added, “Big up the official charts for giving me this lovely plaque. This is new; I love it! And yeah, I am gassed—this is sick! It’s good to be back in the swing of music again, and there’s more to come. Let’s go! I’ll see you a lot in a bit. Peace!”

On the Official Albums Chart, KSI has earned a total of five official Top 40s to date, including 2021’s chart-topper “All Over the Place.” Despite all these achievements in entertainment, will KSI be able to repeat this success when he squares off against Conor McGregor in the boxing ring?

Trash-talking champ Conor McGregor had no idea what was coming when he trolled KSI for his rap, treating him with the ultimate disrespect. This hit KSI hard, especially since he often keeps his feelings to himself. But how long can someone suppress their anger at such disrespect? Not long, as it turned out.

During an interview with Misfit Boxing, the host mischievously asked KSI for his opinion on McGregor’s derogatory remarks. Unable to hold back, KSI shot back, “I tweeted that you can hear the embarrassment in his voice, man.” He went on to drag McGregor’s homeland and family, claiming, “I feel like he is a disgrace to the whole of Ireland, a disgrace to his family. It’s embarrassing. I think he is an embarrassment. He is nothing right now, and he’s just waltzing about like he is the shit when he isn’t.”

This is the first time someone has trash-talked Conor McGregor on this level. Previously, McGregor was the one who always dragged people’s private lives into the hype for his fights. What are your thoughts on KSI’s remarks? Do you believe that KSI’s pop-rap “Thick of It” really deserves recognition? Drop your opinions below.
