‘The American Gangster’ recently appeared on ‘The Schaub Show’ and dropped a major detail regarding McGregor‘s fight against Mayweather. Sonnen debunked the statement that their fight was a major financial achievement. He said, “Conor and Mayweather first off, didn’t do near the business that they claimed that it.” Chael Sonnen believes that the real figures are different from the ones they claimed to have earned.

He also mentioned why people considered the fight to be a big-time matchup. It was mostly because Conor McGregor was an active champion at that time. Sonnen said, “It wasn’t just Conor, it was a simultaneous two-division UFC champion, with Dana White being a carnival barker in his corner.” ‘Notorious’ was one of the biggest stars when the fight was planned, and with his stardom along with Dana White’s support, the fight was able to garner the attention of many fans.

Chael Sonnen previously questioned Mayweather’s fight purse

The UFC legend was highly doubtful about the Forbes report regarding Mayweather’s fight purses. They claimed that ‘Money’ earned almost $250 million for a single fight. However, Chael Sonnen claims that those aren’t the correct figures. Instead, he believed that it was an attempt by Mayweather and his team to garner some attention.

As per Sonnen, the amount of money the 50-0 boxer made, as shown by Forbes, are highly inflated figure. Sonnen also claimed that it was the support from Forbes that helped Mayweather keep the illusion intact.
