The new UFC bantamweight king, Sean O’Malley, is looking to venture into boxing in the future. ‘Suga’ secured the most significant win of his career by defeating Aljamain Sterling. The two squared off on August 19 at TD Garden in Boston. ‘Funk Master’ handled the first round of the fight with a combination of kicks, while O’Malley showcased a blend of precise punches and moves. However, a perfectly timed counter right hook by the 28-year-old in the second round became a game-changer in his fighting career.

Soon after winning the bout, O’Malley made it clear that he had some great plans for his future, which included a monumental showdown against Floyd Mayweather‘s protégé, Gervonta Davis. O’Malley recently claimed that he is ready to wait for the bout against Davis as the two are still building their combat sports careers. Moreover, the Helena native wants their bout to be as great as the biggest fight in combat sports history; that is, he wants a “Conor-Floyd situation”. So when will the bout take place?

The bantamweight champion was talking in the MMA Hour. During the chat, he stated that he was not going to face Davis in a boxing fight immediately. However, he is keeping it for the future, when both he and ‘Tank’ become as great as Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather. During the chat, ‘Suga’ mentioned that Davis and he are undefeated boxers, and it would be great if they could fight and find out who is the best boxer. According to ‘Suga’, his next goal is to knock out his next opponent at the UFC and become a great fighter.

 O’Malley said, “We can have a Conor-Floyd situation. I’m not as big as Conor right now. He’s not as big as Floyd, so I’m just planting the seeds and letting it grow. I would love that fight. T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, the Suga Show versus Gervonta. I just think it could definitely happen and I’d love to make it happen someday.O’Malley admits that he is not as popular as UFC superstar Conor McGregor, and now he has to wait to reach the same position. However, there are some who believe that O’Malley does not stand a chance against Davis inside the boxing ring.

Ryan Garcia warns ‘Suga’

When Sean O’Malley called out ‘Tank’, Ryan Garcia ridiculed the bantamweight champion for his ignorance. According to Garcia, O’Malley is not someone who has the power to defeat a boxing star like Davis. Garcia took to X and tweeted that if ‘Suga’ and ‘Tank’ faced each other inside a boxing ring, the former would get knocked out. Interestingly, ‘King Ry’ and Davis have fought each other in the past, and Mayweather’s teammate defeated Garcia in the seventh round by a body shot.

When the UFC bantamweight champion came across Garcia’s prediction, he made fun of him about his defeat against Davis. O’Malley wrote, “@RyanGarcia Like you did or different?” After learning O’Malley’s response, ‘King Ry’ claimed that boxing and MMA are two different things and that he could prove it to O’Malley in a showdown.
