Sean O’Malley doesn’t think an MMA fight between him and boxer, Ryan Garcia is possible.  The two men have been involved in a back-and-forth involving a potential clash inside the UFC. In a recent video on X, Ryan Garcia made a revelation about being “taken advantage of”, and the cryptic video had drawn concerns about the boxer’s mental health in the combat sports community.

As such, during his recent appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Sean O’Malley was asked to state his thoughts about the situation between him and Garcia, in light of Garcia’s behavior on social media. ‘Sugar’ stated, “Again, I just think that mentally, that kid is not where he needs to be. We’ll see how he looks against Devin Haney and kinda go from there.”

He also confessed that “I feel like a MMA fight is just so unrealistic, there’s 0 percent chance he’d ever even make it to that fight. I mean, it would take him one MMA session, one wrestling day, one jiu jitsu with anybody that knows anything for him to realize, ‘Okay, nevermind, this is a bad idea.’

The UFC bantamweight champion hinted that a boxing match might be the only option but doubted Garcia’s ability to handle the pressure of the build-up. He ended by stating, “Floyd’s still running around the boxing room so, I keep going out there and doing what I’m doing, I might skip Ryan, I might skip Gervonta and go straight to the big dawg.”

In conclusion, the prospects of an MMA showdown between Sean O’Malley and boxer Ryan Garcia seem bleak, with O’Malley expressing doubts about Garcia’s mental state and readiness for such a challenge. As Garcia’s situation unfolds, O’Malley remains focused on his own trajectory in combat sports, eyeing the path to greatness beyond any potential clash with Garcia.
