Joe Rogan scared of GSP—Is St-Pierre the most intimidating fighter in UFC history?

The UFC has been home to some of the best MMA fighters in the history of the most popular combat sport in the 21st century. But the promotion has also been home to some of the unique fighters, and Joe Rogan has been there to witness them all. He recently name-dropped one former UFC fighter, who might very well be much more intimidating than the ferocious Mike Tyson.

As we all know, there’s hardly anybody who’s been as scary as Mike Tyson, who would strike fear not just in his opponents’ hearts but also in the public in his prime years. But Joe Rogan claims that ‘Iron’ isn’t the only one who gave him the chills because a former UFC middleweight fighter carried that same aura.

Joe Rogan can’t seem to stop talking about what a specimen Yoel Romero was when he was in the UFC. As he has before, the JRE host decided to spill the information about Romero’s physical capabilities when he was taken to a doctor by the UFC staff. Rogan claimed that the doctor was surprised to see that Romero had a much more durable body than most human beings, with a much better healing ability.

“The UFC took him to a doctor… he’s got a different structure. They said that the tendons in his eyes are three times larger than a normal person’s,” Joe Rogan stated on the ‘JRE Companion Show’“They said he’s already healing. He had a fractured orbital bone.” This prompted Brendan Schaub, who was a guest on that show, to compare Yoel Romero’s healing factor to a popular Marvel comic superhero.

“He’s like Wolverine,” Brendan Schaub responded. Joe Rogan would later talk about Mike Tyson and how, at 58 years old, he can still pack a lot of power in his punches. But when it comes to Yoel Romero, he’s a special kind of athlete. “You’ve seen him [Tyson] hit pads. He’ll still f*** you up… but the Yoel Romero thing is different,” Joe Rogan further stated.

Joe Rogan claims Yoel Romero’s story is very different from most of the combat sports athletes in history. He would also reveal how ‘Soldier of God’ went through his wrestling program in Cuba, and yes, it’s quite an interesting story.

The JRE host reveals details about Romero’s wrestling program

Yoel Romero’s early life, just like Mike Tyson’s, was a struggle. The struggle, for him, was to better his life, and he does have a great life now that he’s years deep into MMA. But Romero claimed that athletic achievements were the only way to better one’s life during his time as a young boy in Cuba. Keeping that in mind, Romero told Joe Rogan about how he trained in wrestling, and believe it or not, ‘Soldier of God’, along with the other athletes, was literally scrapping for food.

“Yoel was explaining how he grew up in Cuba and about he went through their wrestling program… if you were the elite, you ate three times a day. But if you’re below that, you eat twice a day,” Joe Rogan added. Although he never became a champion in the UFC, Yoel Romero is still a legend, a popular and hardened fighter, especially because of his Cuban upbringing.
