The trend of Youtuber boxing began in 2017 when Youtuber KSI called-out the Paul brothers from the ring after his victory over fellow British Youtuber Joe Weller in a boxing match. Jake’s brother, Logan Paul accepted. In 2018, the duo fought to a majority draw in the fight before their rematch in 2019. KSI won their second encounter via split decision. But, more importantly, this kick-started the trend of Youtube boxing.

Jake Paul, in the latest series of his fights against undersized MMA fighters, boxed Nate Diaz last week. But, to his credit, at least he chose one who isn’t as old or retired yet, unlike some of his previous opponents. And KSI joined Ariel Helwani on his ‘MMA Hour’ show on Youtube to give his thoughts on the Diaz vs Paul fight.

KSI was unimpressed with the bout and felt that both men were mediocre in the fight. He thought that Paul had “regressed’ in his fight against Diaz. He felt Paul tried to go all out in the first round. However, ‘The Problem Child’ realized that he might get gassed out if he kept up the frenetic pace, and decided to go slow and survive the rounds. KSI was also puzzled by the lack of output and fight IQ from the former Disney star.

On Diaz, the British Youtuber felt that Diaz did not pose a threat to Paul. According to KSI, the Stockton native threw weak arm punches and didn’t use his hips to create leverage and power. Which is why, although Jake took a lot of punches, they were mostly ineffective.

“I just don’t feel like Nate posed a threat. He was just, he has pillow hands, especially in the boxing ring, like when it comes to MMA, yeah, he might be able to knock down someone because of how small the gloves are but in boxing, bro, he doesn’t throw anything from the hip it’s all just arm punches and it’s like he’s slapping and you know the amount of shots Jake took was tremendous. But it hardly did anything so that’s what I felt like,” the 30-year-old told Helwani.

Jake Paul won a unanimous decision against Nate Diaz at the end of the scheduled ten rounds. Although Paul got off to a flying start, he couldn’t sustain the momentum for the remainder of the fight. He did manage to knock down the BJJ black belt in the fifth round. At the end of the fight, he offered Diaz $10 million for a rematch in MMA under the PFL banner.

The Paul vs. Diaz fight went as most had expected it to go. However, towards the end of the fight, Paul started clinching more and more, a sign that he was tired. It would be interesting to see how Paul does in an MMA fight against Diaz.

Of course, an eight-figure offer to fight would be a no-brainer for 99% of the fighters. But, Nate Diaz is not 99% of the fighters. He is just, well, Nate Diaz. Always. And that is why fans absolutely love him.
