Jorge Masvidal‘s first fight with Nate Diaz was stopped by the doctor at the end of the second round. While this meant that ‘Gamebred’ walked away with the UFC’s inaugural BMF title, the fans were left without a proper conclusion to their much-awaited matchup.
Both men ended their stints in the UFC without having faced each other again despite fans unanimously calling for a rematch. And now, they have decided to finish their unfinished business, but in the ring instead of the octagon. Which is natural, given that both men are strikers and do their best work on the feet. They will face each other in a ten-round pro-boxing bout on Saturday night in Anaheim, California. And according to a report by ‘MMA Junkie’, Masvidal will make $300k, while Diaz will be the highest-paid fighter on the card and will take home $500k.
Also fighting on the card is former UFC lightweight champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis. The latter, surprisingly, is getting paid $350k, which is more than Masvidal, who is a much bigger star in addition to being the headliner and thus the main draw of the whole event.

It should be noted that these figures exclude any PPV revenue share and bonuses and sponsorship money that they might receive. Masvidal’s pay in particular and it being less than Pettis’ especially surprised fans, who took to social media to voice their outrage.
Fans react to Jorge Masvidal getting paid less than Anthony Pettis’
One fan was astonished at the fact that Masvidal was getting paid less than ‘Showtime’: “How is Pettis making more than Masvidal.” Another was so impressed by this feat that he called on Pettis to reward his manager for pulling it off: “Pettis manager needs a raise.”

Another fan agreed wholeheartedly with this sentiment, and couldn’t help but commend Pettis’ manager: “Petrie getting more than masvidal is crazy. Showtime must have a sick manager.” Another was surprised to see that ‘Showtime’ actually fought all these years later: “Didn’t realize Pattis still competes.”
Another fan took a sarcastic shot at the former UFC lightweight champion and indirectly pointed out that he was not even the main event, but was still getting paid more than the headliner: “Cuz we all know who the real star is.” What are your predictions for Masvidal-Diaz 2 inside a boxing ring?
