It’s been just a bit more than a week since the announcement, and Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou already looks like a rollercoaster ride. With a bizarre rematch clause, the build-up has been quite eventful! Moreover, many big names from the UFC and boxing world have given their opinions on this fight. Mostly, everyone is excited to see the two heavyweight giants battle it out in the boxing ring. Can Ngannou’s power prove to be too much for the undefeated boxing legend? The question remains in many minds!
However, there is one prominent name in the boxing world who is clearly not very impressed with this match. He is Garry Logan, a former professional boxer and a current boxing coach. Appearing in an interview recently, Logan had some tough words for this fight and for ‘The Gypsy King’.

Talking to Sky Sports, Garry Logan expressed his concerns about the upcoming fight between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou. Logan questioned why Ngannou, who has never stepped into a boxing ring for a real meaningful fight, was granted the opportunity, while other ranked contenders sit back.
He said, “14 to 15 men, ranked contenders sign up every year to get their WBC rankings. Why have they got away for Francis Ngannou, that has never had a boxing glove on in his career, in a real meaningful fight…”
Moreover, he criticized Fury’s prolonged absence from defending his title, finding it preposterous that a title defense has been delayed for over 20 months- “You should be mandatorily defending the title you have not defended for 20-odd months now, which is preposterous. This is not benefitting boxing in any way.”
Further, Logan highlighted the potential negative impact on boxing, stating that the match does not benefit the sport. Fury was not the only one who came under fire. Logan had some strong words for the champion’s dance partner as well.

Interestingly, many fans and critics are acknowledging the possibility of Ngannou winning this fight. The reason? His exceptional punching power. However, Logan does not believe that. He acknowledged Ngannou’s punching power but questioned his boxing skills, claiming that while Ngannou can hit hard, he lacks the refined techniques of a skilled boxer.
He stated, “It’s not good for boxing that he is defending his WBC title against a man… I am sorry, Ngannou can’t box. He can punch, but he can’t box.”
