Francis Ngannou does not hold back. Whether it’s inside the cage or on a mic. Even while speaking to Joe Rogan, ‘The Predator’ did not cower away from saying what was on his mind. Ngannou has shown respect to Fury and his abilities in the past, but there are still conflicts regarding the boxer in his head. With the brewing rivalry and the fast-approaching fight date, it was only a matter of time before he voiced them.

He spoke at length about his UFC career and why he ended up abandoning it. The latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience saw the fighter speak his mind about his past and his future. The topic came to a halt when the two started speaking about Tyson Fury. When that happened, Ngannou had some interesting opinions but Rogan did not agree with them.

Ngannou brought up something that isn’t exactly new. Back when Tyson Fury fought Deontay Wilder in 2o20, rumors popped up that Fury’s gloves did not have protection. This means that his gloves would be lighter and his fists, more exposed.

“He’s very tricky with his glove. I think he’s cheating,” alleged Ngannou. “I have heard a lot of complaints about his glove, which is like his glove has no protection,” he continued. “Even when he fought Deontay Wilder, he complained about that,” Ngannou seemed convinced about the complaints.

The allegations have been afloat for a while. Ngannou bringing it up only shows how much influence a single complaint can have. The truth is, nobody really knows if something was wrong with Fury’s gloves.

“I’ve seen the Deontay Wilder videos, but they’re not convincing,” said Rogan. “They’re showing those videos in slow motion. And in slow motion, it looks like his glove is flopping all over the place but that’s just cause it’s in slow motion. When you watch him boxing, he’s doing this,” Rogan throws a bunch of pretend punches in the air. “He flicks, flicks, flicks. He shows you it. Pop. Then he drops a big punch in. So in slow motion, it looks like it’s all floppy, like it’s not connected… if you look at the length of his arm, none of that makes sense.”

Still, Ngannou insisted that wanting to verify the rumors is only natural. Rogan, on the other hand, did not think anything was wrong with Fury’s gloves because he was such a great boxer.

“I think it’s legit. I think he’s legit,” Rogan reiterates. “I just think he’s that good. And his style of keeping that hand lose and flicking so sometimes that wrist opens way up and if you look at it in slow motion. people are like, look his glove’s not even attached. His glove’s attached.”

Rogan makes a good case on why Fury’s critics see what they see. Slow-motion videos of him throwing punches make it look like his gloves don’t have any protection. However, Ngannou still wants to remain as safe as possible and expressed how he wanted his team to talk to the PFL and ensure every glove was checked and cleared before the fight.

A bird’s eye view of Ngannou vs. Fury

The fight is set to go down on October 28th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Ngannou has already shared his concern about his gloves and how hard he’ll have to fight if Fury is his first fight. The fighter also talked about contractual issues with the UFC that led him to leave the promotion. He revealed that the contract extensions were a big problem and almost robbed the fighters of the chance to have their own say about their fights. The UFC showed him no flexibility, and the PFL did, so he made the move.

In the meantime, Fury has shown Ngannou nothing but respect and openly admitted to him being a huge threat. A lot of money is banking on this fight and a possible rematch would bring in even more dollar bills. ‘The Gypsy King’ is an undefeated destroyer while ‘The Predator’ is being trained by none other than legend Mike Tyson. But who do you think will win? Fury and his potentially floppy gloves or ‘The Predator’ who hails from Cameroon? Let us know in the comments.
