Stepping into the boxing ring with all the bravado of his signature swagger, Nate Diaz recently ventured into the world of pugilism against Jake Paul. Yet, even the most daring entrances can lead to unforeseen outcomes. Entering the ring as a 3-1 underdog, Diaz was up against a 6-1 boxing record holder.

Throughout the fight, the dynamics swung in favor of Paul’s calculated strikes. While Diaz managed to showcase his prowess at some moments, it was a Jake Paul show for the most part. Even after a defeat, Diaz managed to earn around $20 million for his boxing debut. Now, weeks after the fight, it seems like the Stockton native does not believe in the result of the bout.

At the end of the fight, the judges’ scorecards ultimately painted a picture of Paul’s supremacy. The YouTuber-turned-boxer won the bout with scores of 98-91, 98-91, and 97-92 solidifying his win. However, Diaz’s post-fight actions echoed his unique persona.

On his Instagram story, he reposted a reel featuring highlights from his bout against Paul. Accompanying the video, Diaz, in his characteristic straightforward manner, wrote, “Nah I won this one.” This quintessential Diaz move perfectly encapsulated his distinct approach to the fight game, where he often voices his opinion without concern for official results.

Soon after their boxing bout ended, Paul proposed the idea of an MMA fight between him and Diaz. As the former UFC champion dismisses Paul’s victory over him, it remains to be seen whether the two rivals with now face each other under MMA rules.

Till now, ‘The Problem Child’ has faced 4 MMA fighters, securing victories over all of them. Although he is a polarising figure, many critics and fans respect his strong boxing record. However, rival Nate Diaz isn’t a huge fan of Paul defeating MMA fighters in boxing.

In a months-old interview with DAZN Boxing, the Stockton native stated his thoughts on why Paul always chooses to fight MMA fighters in a boxing ring. According to the UFC veteran, Paul understands MMA athletes’ weakness in boxing and takes advantage of it.

“The thing about him [Jake Paul] is that he knows that MMA fighters can’t box and that they’re in over their heads trying to box. Because he went in there and worked a bunch over in training and now in fights also,” he said.

Irrespective of Diaz’s thoughts, the fact also remains that MMA fighters turned boxers agreed to fight against Paul, and this includes Diaz too. At the same time, until and unless we see Jake Paul go up against opponents from the boxing fraternity itself, questions about his fighting prowess will continue to rise.
