Nate Diaz and Jake Paul are set to face each other in the boxing ring on August 5. However, there may be a small hiccup coming their way. The ex-UFC star hinted at the same in a recent tweet. The announcement for the bout between the free agent Diaz and influencer boxer Paul came in April. The fight is scheduled to go down on August 5 in Dallas, Texas. The 8-round bout will be the culmination of months of back and forth between the two figures.

Recently, the pair even held the first press conference for the same in Texas. On May 9th, the pair met at the press conference to officially kick off the media tour for their August bout. Both Diaz and Paul had their fair share of back and forth before their first face-off.

As things were looking on track for the bout, Texas’ no-tolerance policy on m*rijuana is looking like it might be a problem.

Nate Diaz sends out a concerning tweet about the Jake Paul bout

If there are three things certain in the world for MMA fans, it would be banter, fights, and Nate Diaz in a cloud of smoke. The fighter has a signature persona in the MMA community and a large part of it is his m*rijuana habits. If you know Diaz, you know he marches to the beat of his own drum.

Therefore, Texas’ no-tolerance policy on m*rijuana might be a problem for the Stockton star. He even had a surprising reaction upon learning the fact after the press conference. In a recent tweet, he made a not-so-subtle hint at the issue and suggested a change for the bout. Diaz wrote, “We gonna have to move states.” He also attached a GIF from ‘The Simpsons’ hinting at the obvious.

Diaz is not the type of guy to bend over to the will of commissions. His reaction to a USADA testing controversy in 2019 is proof of the same.

When Diaz threatened to back out of the BMF fight

Back in 2019, USADA revealed that Nate Diaz had tested positive for elevated testosterone levels from tainted supplements. This was just days before his BMF fight against Jorge Masvidal. The Stockton Slapper issued a bold statement after the news.

He said, “I am not gonna make it out to NYC for fight week next week because they say I tested with elevated levels that they say might be from some tainted supplements. Until UFC, Usada or whoever is FU***G with me Fixes it, I won’t be competing.”

He garnered support from both Masvidal and Jon Jones after his response to the situation. Hence, fans should not be surprised if Diaz locks horns with the Texas commission ahead of the Paul fight.

What are your thoughts on the situation? Do you think the venue for the fight will change? Or will Diaz get an exemption?
